George R. R. Martin's " A Song of Ice and Fire" series...starting with "A Game of Thrones" Jaqueline Carey's "Kushiel's Dart", "Kushiel's Chosen" and "Kushiel's Avatar"
Anything by Anne McAffery, David Eddings, Anne Rice, P.K. Morrison, or Mercedes Lackey. Also, Jean Aul.
OMG..I could go on for days with this one...
Oh yea...Sharon Shinn is good too! And Tolkein...lets not forget him! Read his other books besides the Lord of the Rings...The Salmarillion for starters...it's hard to get thru but worth it! Tad Williams is good...one of his trilogies is almost identical to Tolkein though. But still good.

Anne Rice's Vampire series is great...her other stand alone novels are fantastic! Violin, Asher...a couple others I can't think of the names off hand...but they're completely different from the Vampire series.
Her sister is also an author, I've only read one of her books but it was good too...The Silver Wolf - Alice Borchardt

Anne Rice also wrote some erotica under the name A. N. Roquelaure. The novels are titled The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty, Beauty's Punishment, and Beauty's Release. Good reading for those interested in BDSM.

last book I finished, Forever by pete hamill, It was okay. I'm picky though, very unrealistic and he left you hanging at the end, maybe there'll be a second book to it.

Now I am starting the series "Left Behind" Just started the first book..so far so good That's a good series...be prepared to get hooked! It makes for a great dramatic series...
I just finished a series by Jennifer Robertson...The ShapeChangers...it was different, not too bad, but a little predictable. 8 books total...but written in 4 omnibuses.
Gonna start reading George R. R. Martin again in hopes that by the time I'm done, he'll be finished with the next in the series...I've been waiting for like 4 years.

Sylvia Plath - The Bell Jar William Styron - Darkness Visible <-------READREADREAD! Virginia Woolfe - Orlando Stephen King - The Shining John Grisham - The Rain Maker Anything by Oscar Wilde. Anything by Marquis De Sade Anything by Noam Chomsky. He's more of an essay writer than a novelist, however if you can find "Understanding Power", give it a read. It's a compilation of his essays over the past few decades. Any Anne Rice. She has a wonderful old-world style of writing.
