It too me longer than it probably should but I was looking at it in all the wrong ways.
carrot is the odd word because it is the only one that when you remove the first and last letter does not make another word.
I have exactly $100.00 that I want to spend buying chickens and I want to buy exactly 100 chickens. The $100.00 must be spent exactly with no change remaining and I want at least one of each of three varieties of chickens. The three varieties and cost of each are: Roosters - $5.00 each Hens - $1.00 each Baby chicks $0.05 each
How many of each variety do you but?

Okay Swyeter, I'm gonna try this so is this a trick question??
Cause I thought roosters weren't chickens and chicks are not chicken either since aren't some of them roosters.
So either you can't do it since you would only be buying one type of chicken or there are three types of hens and you would buy one hundred of them at the cost of $1 each equaling $100.00.
And if this is not right I am going to be a mite annoyed

LMAO ~ No it's not a trick question. I will leave it and see if someone else will try if not then I will post the answer tomorrow. But think folks it is not necessarily a math question but more of a logic one.

hmmm...Swyeter is just trying to get back on my good side not a bad attempt
This poem is about a famous historical figure, someone you will know. Tell me the name of the person and what they made/invented
To Benedictine cloth, sworn I, With humble lot; my garb was dull. But in the cellar; naught 'scaped my eye; As I the grower's yield must cull.
I sought in all the best to do, To prune the wand'ring vine to size, And foreign substance all eschew, The vintage fine to optimize.
To blindness tales I beg a lie; Too, the myth my reputation scars, That I to brothers gave the cry, "Come quickly; I am drinking stars!"
Who am I?

Swyeter got it
Dom Pierre Perignon. The brand of champagne, Dom Perignon, is named after him.
Pierre Perignon entered into the Benedictine at the Abbey of Saint-Vannes in the town of Verdun. He transferred to the Abbey of Hautvilliers, near Espernay, where he served as cellar master until his death. While he was in this position, the Abbey increased the size of its vinevards. Some of the rules he developed for wine making survive to this day. He believed that fine wine should be made only from Pinot Noir grapes; rotten and overly large grapes should be discarded. Perignon preferred multiple presses rather than treading the grapes and used only natural processes without the addition of foreign substances. He aggressively pruned the vines to produce a smaller crop of higher quality. He was said to have invented the process to make champagne and on his first taste of the bubbly allegedly called out to the rest of the Abbey, "Come quickly, I am drinking stars!" This story was probably invented by a later cellar master to add importance to the Abbey.

"llama phoenix hyena alligator beaver elephant tortoise antelope"
If you move the antelope to the front of the line, then the first letter of each word spells out 'alphabet'.
Okay, here's one my kids tortured me with one day. I'll try to be clear...
You are inside a house with no windows, and you have three lights on your front porch. Each light is controlled by its own switch. Two of the bulbs are burned out but one of them works fine. You need to find out which of the bulbs is still good, so you can then replace the other two.
You can't leave the door open, you can't let another person help you, and you can't just do the adult thing and replace all three! Good luck.
Curious - who has only figured out the chickens so far, and I think that says something about my upbringing...

Well you didn’t say you could not turn all three on then go out on the porch and see which one was burning but that would be too easy and oblivious.
If you are cannot go onto the porch while they are on an alternative is to turn all three on for 5-10 minutes and then turn them off and go check which one is hot. The hot bulb will be the good one.

That's the right idea. And yes, I forgot that you can only turn one on at a time.
The kids' answer was to turn the first one for a few minutes, then turn it off, quickly turn on the second and run outside. If the 2nd one was on, you had your answer. If not, see if the 1st one was hot. Then you would also know.
NEXT!

Oay an easy one.
Three women each have two daughters. They are having lunch at a restaurant . There are only seven chairs in the restaurant. All the women are seated.
Question: How is this possible?

Two identical jars are placed on a scale, each with one fruit fly in it. One fly is flying and the other one is sitting. Which bottle weighs more?

Hmmm.....I have no idea
But...wouldn't both the jars weight the same no matter what? I think....no matter what they have the same content?

You are correct in that they would weigh the same but you did not provide logic for your answer.
The reason they would weigh the same is that the down pressure produced by the one fruit fly to fly would be equal to its body weight and result in its jar weighing the same though it was flying and not sitting.
I'll go easy with the next one.
Which weighs more, a pint of milk or a pint of cream?
