Those of you that know me well have come to realize that I am a self confessed American Idol Junkie. Season Seven's two night season premiere begins tomorrow at 8pm/7pm C  I know that last years Idol lost some of its spark and Some of Idols alumni have had their struggles. Rueben, Taylor, and my fave Bo Bice were dropped by their record labels.Jordin and Blake have had lukewarm record sales so far. Others have done incredibly well. Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry, Jennifer Hudson, Clay Aiken, and Fantasia. Kelly Pickler and Bucky Covington have even made a name for themselves.
For me its simply unconditional love no matter what happens. I simply cannot get enough. This year the show will focus more on the contestants then the celebrity mentors. They will be allowed to play instruments when we get to the finals. We will of course still be subjected to the talentless and painful delusional singers during the auditions. I am hoping that Hollywood week will not be compressed into small snippets like it was last year. Simon and Paula have both said that there are some incredible standouts this year.
Even if you are not a fan of the show, its never to late to partake in my madness.
So stop into this thread often and lets discuss the good , the bad , and the very bad singers that will grace our TV Screens over the next five months .

Well lets get to down to business here is recap of tonights season premier.
Seven cities and over one hundred thousand with dreams and delusions. Welcome to Philadelphia the city of brotherly love and rich with history. Will music history be made here only time will tell.
Joey Catalano who has reduced his girth by 204 pounds is the first we get to see. He tackles a maroon five song and aces it and is handed the first golden ticket to hollywood.
Then we meet "Yuka". Yuka says he just loves American Women and said "he wants a woman to love him from the top of his hair to his nipples" I am not kidding he really said this. He also said that a beautiful girl told him he has a sexy face.Yuka sings some Bee Gees and the judges send him packing.
Melanie Nyema is a back up singer for Taylor Hicks. She gets her ticket to Hollywood , but I was not impressed. She may have been nervous but I at least at this point do not see what the judges saw.
Comedy break time. Tour guide James Lewis appears articulate and well dressed and then he opens his mouth to sing. It was baffling when he sings he suddenly develops a speech impediment of some sort and bellows out what is suppose to be a old time gospel song. The judges are in hysterics and James looks befuddled and thinks it was just his song choice and not his voice.

Simon sits and chews on his pen which he pretty much does through all of the auditions and gives us that bored look he does so well.
Next singer who can sing is Junos Joyner.. I honestly do not recall all that much about him but he did get a golden ticket.
He is followed by three others who we only get a quick snippet of their abilities.
I think three of the four were.. Jose Candelera, Jonathon( missed the last name) and one other. All three are on their way to Hollywood.
No show would be complete with out some drama and touching moments. Enter Tempest Brown. Tempest is a big girl who happens to be a middle line backer. Her Mama is in a wheel chair and sick and she is doing this for her mama. She is a sweetheart. Of course sweet Tempest cannot sing , and tackled a really tough song. Simon is actually incredibly kind to her and she gets hugs from the judges and they all walk her out to help ease the hurt. I cried my first American Idol tears of the season.
Next up is Mark Hayes. Mark is not a singer but he sure does a great cricket impression. He sings White Christmas and my artificial tree ( yes its still up) seemed to wilt in dispair. My cat liked the cricket sounds.
Udgeet otherwise known as "Udi" says he sings like Barry Manilow and Frank Sinatra , and he likes to bring music into the workplace. He likes to wear MC Hammer pants and dance. He thinks this is good for work morale. He sings my way. Simon thinks he is completely nuts.He isngs the same note throughout the song. He takes his rejection like a gentleman.
Time for the Rock and Roll montage of singers which sets the stage for .....
Alexis Cohen. Alexis lives with her mother in a effiency apartment with ther mom, we even get a tour of the apartment. Alexis wants to be a vet or have a singing career. She likes shiny things.Alexis actually surprised me she has a great Grace Slick like voice but Simom thinks she is posessed. Randy thinks she would be a great in a cover band for sixties and seventies music. Its a no go from the judges. I was kind of hoping they would have let her go to hollywood and see what she would do next. Alexis once she gets the boot goes on a tirade of four letter words. In the end she decided she would " take up actressing instead"
The very lovely Angela Martin also manages to tug at my heartstrings. Angela has a special needs child and says she is doing this not for fame but to get the best care for her little girl. I was delighted that she did indeed have a beautiful voice and got her golden ticket.
Simons nightmare was next. Alyse was not that awful , but Simon said she was just like a nightmare he had before the auditions began.Alyse was follwed by more nightmarish singers.
Milo..bald and confident and way past the age limit managed to get in front of the judges. He had a song to sing that he felt was a public service announcement for young people. He sang "No sex allowed" He was too old to be judged but he got his five minutes of camera time.
Kristie Lee Cook lives in a cabin in Oregon. She is a kick boxer and raises horses and is beautiful. She sold her best Barrel Horse to pay for her trip to Philidelphia. Her voice was lovely and the judges were impressed. Its off to hollywood for Kristie.
The judges year after year tell auditioners to not come in costume, but I guess if you suck musically how else will get attention. A velvet cloaked Ben gets in front of the judges and unrobes. I am not really sure how to describe what he was wearing. Paula however was very distracted by his very very hairy chest. He went off and got it waxed and returned. Poor poor Ben.. he only sang the first two notes of his song before he was tossed out.
Paul the stalker dude was next he wrote a rather unusual love song for Paula. It was quite funny I thought , but Simon thought he was scary and sent him on his way. I wanted to hear the rest of his stalker song.

oddly enough the next good singer was Beth Stalker who was following her childhood dream to be a singer. Simon thought that she would be unforgetable , but Randy and Paula liked her. I liked her too.
My favorite male vocalist of the night was Chris Watson He looked like a star and sounded like one too. He had great sex appeal as well. I am looking foward to seeing him become one of the 24 finalists.
The force was not with Christina Tolisano self proclaimed geek and Star wars fanatic. She was a bit odd no doubt, but I did like her voice. She was not American Idol material and her attitude would have done her in. I kept thinking though how cool it would have been to put her and Alexis Cohen as room-mates in Hollywood. It would have been great TV.
Last but not least was nanny and good girl Brooke White. Brooke and her hubby have never watched a R rated movie ever. She sings beautifully and Simon wants to bring her over to the dark side. She makes it to Hollywood.
Philadelphia gets 29 tickets to Hollywood. Tomorrow its on to Dallas . Welcome back American Idol ..I sure did miss you

Yep that was Chris.. he shines above the rest so far. I was too sleepy to recap last night , so here it is a day late.
American Idol returns to Dallas for the first time since season one Would there be another Kelly Clarkson waiting to be discovered?
Former drug user and mom Jessica Brown is the first out of the gate and her "stand by me impresses the judges and she gets the first golden ticket of the night.
Paul Stafford who keeps city parks looking pretty and happens to be a member of the roller coaster enthusiast society attempts a Elliot Yamin song. Paul is a heck of a nice guy and gives a joyful audition. Its a no go for Paul.
Beth thinks she sounds like Kelly Clarkson and says she is always compared to her. The judges have to disagree . Beth is followed by others that try to take on the same Clarkson song. Simon looks like he is going to puke.
Elaine Whitikerinforms the judges that people compare her to Carrie Underwood. She sings a Faith Hill song and she does get her ticket to Hollywood. Simon of course had to get the last word and told her that she is not as good as she thinks she is.
Bruce Dickson has never kissed a girl and is saving himself for marriage. He wears a gold key around his neck and his dad wears the gold heart that the key fits into, Bruce will give that heart to his bride one day. Bruce is not a bad singer but the judges to not think he has what it takes. He asks the judges for advice and Simon tells him to go out a kiss a girl.
Pia Easley Is a model and a back up singer with a really cool haircut. Simon and I were on the same page with her. I found her unique and confident and was hoping she would make it through and thankfully she did. Pia is someone to watch.
Brandon GreenCollects his own fingernails and keeps them in a ziplock bag. That is really weird and and I cant beleive he disclosed that and showed them on national TV. He does "Nail" his audition though and will be going to hollywood. I just hope we never see his nail collection ever again.
Kayla Dawn Hatfield was a victim of a car crash. She is however the most exuberant and happy person ever. Simon said he would love to be her for a day or two. Kayla does have he own unique vocal stylings and makes it to Hollywood.
Erick Mauldron is a great big Rueben Studdard kind a guy but he sings like a seven year old. Its a NO for Erick.
Katie Maloy is a vocal impressionist and gave us her best Britney impression. After Katie does an impression of herself, she does impress the judges. Simon says she is super talented and the Best they have heard all night.

Dallas Day two
Douglas Davidson does some bizarre warm up exercizes and his vocal chords must be frozen. They simply never warm up and after several attempts he has to be escorted out of the room.
Newley wed Angela Riley's husband is her biggest fan. He picked out her songs and thinks she is a goddess among singers. Angela is not the worst by far, but Simon thinks she is simply bad karaoke. Simon also says in reference to her husband that "love is deaf"
Future Governer of Oklahoma Kyle Ensley has politics down pat. I never would have expected to hear a great voice come out of his mouth. Simon and I like him. I hope he makes it through Hollywood week and watch him transform before our eyes.
Tammy Tuzinki must have taken a sedative before her audition.This girl had absolutely no personality.I hope she had someone to drive her home.
Its men in drag time ! quick montage of men wearing dresses and attempting to sing. Of course no one made it.
Farm boy and tractor singer Drew Poppelreiter will be taking his first plane ride to Hollywood. Drew can sing and he gave me a flashback to Garrett the singing cowboy from Season five. Drew loves Farm life but he sure seemed eager to get to Hollywood.
Kyle Reinick who is wearing guyliner and counsels kids is our first Rocker Guy of the season. Simon thinks he is disturbing and menacing when he sings and gets a thumbs down.
Nina Shaw hails from Kelly Clarksons home town. Simon thinks she is old fashioned and retro , but Randy and Paul put her through. I really loved her voice.
And we save the best for last. Renaldo Lapuz says "singing for the world is a privledge" and he just loves Simon and thinks he is a god or something. Renaldo has written a song for Simon" Brothers are forever." Ryan , Randy and Paula join in and they all sing for Simon who is actually smiling and loving it. Renaldo says that Simon is heavens chosen one. Renaldo does not make it to Hollywood , but he still feels so blessed that he got to sing for Simon.
Dallas receives 24 golden tickets... great start for season seven.

I got a guilty pleasure for ya that'll make you forget all about American Idol
Borachone I am rather good at multi-tasking so I am always up to multible means of pleasure. Of course when Idol is on it would have to be during the comercials.
Week Three from Cornhuskers State.. Omaha Nebraska.
Paula is delayed so Simon and Randy take the wheel withiut her.Poor Paula missed meeting Chris B I can relate to Chris who has absolutely no talent but is in awe of the Idol experience. He comes bearing gifts and loves Kelly Clarkson.He butchers "since youve been gone" Soon the happiness that was exploding from Chris gets a reality check from the judges. Simon however loves how Chris sucked up to the judges . Chris wants to report from the red carpet and Simon said he would help make this possible. A very jubliant Chris does not get his golden ticket but we may see him at the finals anyway.
Jason Rich is very nervous and keeps forgetting his lyrics.. he finally pulls it off and he gets a chance to show his stuff in Hollywood. We are seeing a much softer side of Simon this season.
Following Jason we are treated to a montage of Singers forgetting their Lyrics.
Rachel Wicker is a arm wrestling champion and can sing as well. Randy does not like the yodel in her voice but puts her through to hollywood.
Time for the strange and Bizarre ... Sara who should be cast in a low budget horror film tries to impress the judges. I am not sure what was coming out of her mouth but it was not singing.
Ryan and Paula change places.. Ryan plays judge and Paula chit chats with the contestants outside the door. Ryan says its his opportunity to get over paid for doing no work. Of course Simon gives Ryan a hard time.
Samantha Sidley sings Nora Jones and gets a nod from all four judges.I was not overly impressed.
Four more golden tickets are handed out right after Samantha gets hers. We only catch a glimpse of the four.
Angelica Puentetells her tale of woe to Ryan about family problesm she had. She has the support of her family once again and wants to make her Dad proud. The judes think she has a promising voice but needs to work on performance. I agree with the judges.
Time for the Rockers 
David Cook who is my fave of the night, "sings living on a prayer" I love the gravel in his voice. The judges want him to work on his persona and his performance. David you have earned a from me. Cant wait to see more of you.
Johnny Escamillia,s golden jacket does not earn him a golden ticket.Paula gets the hic-cups while he is singing. Simon does not like anything about him. Another dream is crushed.
Leo Marlowe has it all . He is a small town boy with personality and confidence and he can sing. Simon really likes him and thinks he is a very nice guy. I like him too. See Nice guys can come out on top.
Nineteen Golden tickets are handed out in Omaha as the sun sets over the heartland.
We are off to Miami next.

Miami Florida swaying palm trees , Latin beats and 10,000 hopefuls are in hope of a dream.
Simon starts out in a good mood as he admires Paula.slutty dress.
Shannon McGough can belch like a man and works with her parents in a meat market.She has won lots of competitons so she is feeling pretty confident. She gives it her best shot while singing Janis Joplins " Cry baby" The judges think she is tone deaf, sounds like she is eating while she sings, and has no melody in her song at all. Her voice was not awful, she could do with a good vocal coach. Her mom was crushed when she didnt make it.
Robbie Carrico is a former boys band member .. Robbie hails from Orlando so of course I am paying close attention .. He did not let me down and is off to Hollywood. His family was overjoyed and gave him a good dousing of silly string.
Ghaleb Emachon is up next. He is charismatic and has decent vocals. Simom said if he were drunk he would like him more. Randy and Paula want him to work on his Accent. He gets a yes.. which surprised me, he was not that good. A very happy Ghaleb kissed everyone in site after getting his golden ticket. Ghaleb will be a early casuality of hollywood week. Its not going to be easy for him to get rid of his accent.
I just loved the next two contestants. BBW singers Corliss and Brittany were awesome. They are both dynamic and fun with incredible voices. Corliss sang her song to Randy and Brittany serenaded Simon. I have to say these two ladies WOWED me. Lets here is for the big girls
Single Mom Suzanne Toon ( cool name for a singer) is looking for a better life for her little girl.Her voice is sultry and sexy. Simon thinks she gets hotter as she sings. They all found her very interesting and hot. Suzanne earns her goden ticket.
Ramiala Rulaby wants to be the next Asian Idol and follow in the footsteps of Jasmine Trias.She is a very cute girl and she blew me away when she sang "Natural Woman" She was phenomonal, Randy was impressed and Simon thought she was a Hotel Singer. She had terrific range and good vocal control.
Syesha Mercado is a vocalist I have seen perform live before. Some of you may remember her as a contestant on the short lived series The One: Making a Music Star which aired on ABC last year. I saw her perform in a local Idol type Competition sponsored by a car dealership here in Orlando. She won of course.Syesha is a power to be reckoned with. Just google her name and read more about Syesha.
We get a quick peek at Natasha Blaik who Randy thinks is a throw back to the old school , she makes it through.
Ilsy Pinot with her long golden hair earns a golden ticket as well
After the good we are treated to the bad vocal stylings of...They are barely worth mentioning. I did think that Fabinne Hippolyte deserves a mention for her name alone and her ability to sing with her finger in her ear.
Richard Valles brings nasal back.. I recall Chris Richardson telling Simon off after he said he was too nasal last year. Poor Richard really sings through his nostril. Its a no go for Richard.
The lovely and overindulged Julie Dubala and former American Junior Contestant is up next. I remember Julie from the show and I think she has a lovely voice. Even though she came in confident that confidence turned to arrogance.It was hard to like Julie. She does not make it through and Julie disses the show. Do not be a sore loser Julie.
Its time for the freak show to begin.Brandon Black makes a bizarre entrance and is dressed equally bizarre. He sings an Original Song called "American Idol. Richard is told that his audition was desperate, and he sang terribly. Bye Bye Richard
Miami earned 17 golden tickets and we get a glimpse at some others that were handed golden tickets that we did not get to see perform. My heart went pitter pat when I caught a glimpse of a long haired Rocker dude. He looked Hot.. cant wait to see him up close.
Next week we head to Atlanta
