the eye of katrina was 51 kms
the eye of yasi is 100 kms
they are both catagory 5 and this is toted to be the worse one in Australian history.
I seen the distruction of Darwin from cyclone tracy and this is supposed to be going to be much worse.

Yasi hit shore near the resort town of Mission Beach as a Category five, battering Queensland state’s coast with wind gusts of as much as 290 kilometers (180 miles) per hour, the Bureau of Meteorology said. The cyclone has been downgraded to Category three even as “very destructive” winds continue at 205 kilometers per hour, according to the bureau’s website.
