I see it everyday, so many people telling others that they live too far away.....too far away for what?....to chat and become internet friends?.....your not going to meet every single person you talk to on here in person anyway, so what's the diff?.....why do people even bother contacting you just to say they wish you were closer, or sorry your so far away?....the internet has opened up this wonderful, vast world to us, and brought it into our homes, for us to explore....are we just going to shut the door in it's "face" and only look at things in our own back yard?....my question to everyone is this.......how far would you travel to meet a friend, and how far would you travel for potential life long love?
I concur with what you posted completely, me248. If the chemistry was right and the mutual attraction had been sustained and nurtured, it would be worth travelling a vast distance to meet someone special and see if there was a chance for the relationship to prosper. If I just wanted to meet people in my area, I would go to the bar, church, or various local functions intended for the purpose of meeting someone. It is fascinating to meet people from different states or even different countries. I once maintained a correspondence with a gentleman from Switzerland for several years. It was a wonderful feeling to receive his postcards and letters. The relationship has ended now, but I wouldn't trade those memories for anything.

and I still say I'd have to really know the person and be sure we would get along in real life before I would commit to traveling great distances.

I can completely understand the "too far away" thing. But like I said before, if I was absolutely sure about someone if would go there no matter how far. Now I just need a cute little Nigerian girl stuck in a hospital to motivate me.
