Well... I don't set out to limit myself geographically...

For me it's a matter of being realistic. I only have so much time after work before I go to bed... only so many days off per week... only so many vacations per year... and only so much money to spend on travel.

With all of those things in consideration.. added to the fact that I LOVE my job and I want to live close enough to my father so that I can be there in less than 5 hours if something happens to him and he needs me...

It's impractical for me to get involved in relationships that are cross-country or around the world. The chances of falling in love with someone whose life is grounded so far away from mine...

I don't need that kind of stress in my life. Life is stressful enough.

As for long term potential, I think Im pretty open minded. My parents are up there in age but are still quite independent. The right person for me would have the ability to think ahead, lay out a tree of realistic options/obligations, compromise, and then go with the flow as time goes on concerning family and income.

Family and Income are the two big ones, I think the rest is just part of the adventure/journey.

Another thing that I think is kewl is, no matter where I end up, I will still have "a spot" here in WNY. Land, barn, furnished house....whatever makes the most sense while the foundation for the relationship is being built. Once elder loved ones pass away or I hit the jackpot and dont need "the spot" anymore, thats part of the journey that is discussed and decisions made later.

I like country livin', but I could deal with big city living as long as I had "my country spot" and could go to it when I needed to. In this case and similar, it would be because her career required her to be there and it would be stupid to walk away from the money.

I think long distance can work as long as the two people involved want it to and make the effort. You have to share a common dream, and "build it"...together. If you allow the system and the machine to control you, it just causes more difficulties.

My dad was stricken with encephalitis a few months ago...... he is 79 and Mom is 78. I would go anywhere for love...as long as we had the money set aside for me to fly back home at a moments notice. I'm not tied to Pensacola....and would love to be in the mountains... I love the Smokies and the mountains out west... have never been to the Rockies.
