An apology to Pennsylvania |

I have said frequently in the past that Pennsylvania is a large lumbering dinosaur of a bureaucracy. It has ponderous, bloated government offices that have regulations that border on the insane, and the corruption within it's systems are a blight making the whole look about as attractive as a poxy whore.
But after using electronic submission with my Federal taxes, the PA file system seems like it was something out of Star Trek...born of a kinder, gentler universe that understands us lesser folk known as humans.
Guess I should have known. Even whores can be nice now and again.

I have to agree with you Dominus. As a Tax Preparer who does just about all returns electronically, the PA system is very user friendly.

Wow.. you sure changed your tone quick for just one simple trick.. Don't let me down Dom.. the gov't is still the same bloated, self serving, corrupt to the core "business" that it's always been..
I looked into that IRS efile, but I thought it gave limits on how much you made as to if it was free... I can wait, so I'm not about to pay for the luxury..

I feel funny adding to this thread so long after it has become dormant, but here goes.
The IRS free e-file is not really provided by the IRS. It is provided by a group of companies who also market for-pay tax preparation software and web sites. If you qualify for the free e-file, you will be linked to one of groups web sites. The return prepartion will be free, but they may try to sell you additional services.
These companies provide this service because it may later lead to paying customers, and they don't want the IRS to actually get into this business. There is a limit on income and type of income (I think it is pretty much a 1040-EZ return only on the free sites.).
