There is little in life that I enjoy more than going down on a woman. The only problem is that my beloved wife of 20 years finds it distateful. How do I address this issue and get her comfortable with it? or am I better off letting this issue rest?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated......

You are lucky you wife tried it and did not like it, I have been married 25 years and to this day my wife and I have never had oral sex becasue she thinks it is nasty and does not believe in it.....I would love to experience oral sex --give or rec.

Try to get her to open up about her feelings. Will she give you oral?
If so her negative feelings could be about herself ( her body)

I agree with Minky..have you approached her and asked why she feels this way. Perhaps after a nice shower together you could lead her to the bedroom and explore each other's body as they begin to dry and let your hands and tongue and mind alleviate her feeling of distastefulness and show her how awesome it can be.!!!! Just my 2 cents

Thanks for the reply from Minky and SweetWineO. I have tried talking, tried everything everybody has ever suggested including yours. I am tired and embarrassed from asking (or begging) for sex. I simply want to experience oral sex, If I like it and I think I will, I will go back for seconds and thirds and so on. But...I have to experience it first. So I am looking, not sure at my age (51) looking for sex or oral sex is possible but I am going to experience oral sex (give and rec) before I die. No matter what, thank you for your reply.

My advise. Get a teacher. Learn how to do it. Then talk her into it. You will have her hooked.
You don't have to cheat on her to learn. But it would be more fun for you and a better learning experience
My ex did not want me to do oral on her very often. If I knew what I was doing it would have been different
But I still don't know how and I need a tutor also. .
