Can someone reach middle age and still not know how to please the opposite sex?
Seems to me if you care about the person you are having sex with , you do your best to make sure they are satisfied.

Yes, there are for different reasons. Either they are into themselves and do not care about pleasing their partner, they do not want to explore and try new positions or erotic things, they do not care for sex, or they get no pleasure from it so why try. Wait that was my ex wife..... 
Seriously there both good and bad lovers.

of course some people are just bad lovers.
sex is a skill, just like any other....
there are bad singers, and bad cooks, and bad tennis players...etc etc etc....
probably anyone can get better, with enough dedication and practice ;) but some people just have the innate mrwwarrrr skill, and some don't.
