For me, I ask myself if once the particular fantasy is fulfilled, how will I feel?
Kind of like the definition of great sex, (sex that you feel great about afterward) if after fulfilling the fantasy you feel like a slut or a shitheel, it's probably better left to the realm of fantasy.

Take on the other hand the fantasy of meeting your total perfect. Sole mate, lover, friend, co-conspirator, lover, partner, they who you would meet in the kitchen after work, cook dinner together, they know as you do that cooking dinner together is foreplay, and while the French onion soup simmers, you are going down on your lover and your lover is NOT simmering, nor are you, you have to turn down the heat on the stove top because the heat in your mouth and arms overrides dinner, and the total security that when this heat is completed, dinner and companionship and going to bed together is certain....waking together is also certain, that fantasy is better lived than shunted off to the realm of fantasy.
Just depends on the fantasy.
