Monogamy

I just finished posting in another thread about this and it got me thinking about this.

Do you believe monogamy is a sign or trait of morality?

Do you think its originates from the Bible?

Do you believe humans are innately monogamous? Or is it imposed by some religous virtue?

Love to see the answers to this.

I think monogamy is just as natural as polyandry and polygamy. It simply depends on the individual and their freedom to choose what works best for them. Religion is irrelivant because religion is a man made fake way to attempt to control the human mind and control societies.

Its all about survival of the fittest and natural selection. Just look at the bonobo monkeys...they have a small population and a strong will to expand so the bonobos are constantly having sex with anything and anyone.

But as far as humans go, perhaps those that have always chose monogamy did so because they were comfortable enough with that sense of security. Whereas polyandry's and polygamists are so insecure with themselves they need many others around them and to give them affection, thats why they do what they do.

Crap, trying to think how to answer this.

If there were no religion for honest and true direction I don't think anyone would be monogamous. It can be hard at times to stay true. BUT, when you love someone you have to reach deep inside and see what really matters to you. Plus, religion helps keep us on track in many areas. This is one.

Shit, I'd fuck everybody if it weren't for my belief that sex were for two people united in love and marriage.

This is just me. I was raised in a Christian home and have tried to live life under His law throughout MY life and my children's. In which we are taught that you don't freely give yourself in that way because that is a gift given to us for two people to share under commitment, only.

Have I been good? No. Can't help myself. But I try. All I can do is continue to try.

PEACE OUT ~ the Furr Queen

Honest and true [successful]direction is Liberty and Interdependence based on common sense principles.

Religion teaches hypocracy, ignorance is bliss, and instills love for ones own enslavement.

There are two different types of people in the world, freedom fighters or control freaks.

Monogamy is just part of integrity. You either have it or you dont.

I don't think monogamy originates in the bible.

It's a biological thing for a woman to want one man to father her children and care for her and her children.

Monogomy originates from women gaining the power to say "You are either faithful to me or you don't have me at all"

I believe monogamy is a sign of humility and inner power

Do you think it originates from the Bible?
The enforcement of monogamy originates in ancient rome even before the catholic church was founded and is known as 'The Should Be Monogamy', which means exclusivity between one man and one woman. The ancient romans who first enforced this were notortiously romantic, hence the word romantic itself even orginates from them (roman-tic). The word monogamy was then perversed by all the religions that emerged and their leaders incl. christianity, modern catholic, muslim etc who re-interpreted the meaning of monogamy to allow for polygamy and other not so monogamous activity (multiple wives, multiple sex partners etc).

Do you believe humans are innately monogamous? Or is it imposed by some religious virtue?
As humans we tend to do what we are programmed to do! This is largely because we are not encouraged to exercise and deveople the virtues of self awareness, such as those that were practiced in ancient eastern philosphy, european philosophy and so on. As a result we no longer possess true power over ourselves, rather the world around us has more control over our minds and actions than we do.

Good question by the way!

Bullshit shell. If I am "dating" I am not having sex. If I choose to have sex with a woman then we are no longer dating, we are building a foundation for a friendship/relationship.

1. physical infatuation
2. power struggle
3. mutual acceptance

Since I know for a fact that a [strong] relationship can not be successful without giving it 100% attention from both people (except maybe for business and career), I have always been monogamous because I would expect nothing less from the woman I am with.

I also do not stay involved with "flirts", unless the flirting remains between the two of us. Things may be different for couples in strong long term relationships, and they might agree that flirting around is just fine (that the mutual acceptance part)

But when its "singles" who are just starting out and you have expressed interest in one person, flirting with others is just disrespectful and just makes the flirter look like an ASS.

Great responses here...Actually well thought out and delivered.. I'm impressed!

Personally I think if we were meant to be monogamous we wouldnt feel sexual attraction to other humans. I look at other species around us and find few are actually monogamous for life. Take dolphins, whales and seahorses. Not to compare ourselves to them but they have no "guiding" religion etc that instructs them how to conduct themselves sexually. It's built into them but not humans. Is that because, as humans, we are faced with the responsibility of higher leanring? Supposedly? lol.

Is it part integrity? I dont know..Is the committment to another person "laboured" because of this?

Humans only use about 10% of their brain as it is. Humans are not in a higher learning category, if they were they wouldnt have allowed the species to grow like an out of control virus while at the same time move consciously so far away from nature into materialism that its irresponsibly consuming more than what will be able to sustain us.

Humans will go extinct just like the millions of other species that couldnt adapt to the "natural" environment even if what happens first is homo-sapiens are artificially built to become robo-sapiens, which is where we are headed. And I cant imagine a robo-sapien having any use for sex let alone monogamy. hehehe...

The pinko feminist facsists are already trying to make it illegal to have a biological penis! The future will be all dildo's and artificial sex machines with no human characteristics. Howard Sterm has one!!!
