I have personally known a few to actually meet and have an LTR, but the reality is.. well, you seem smart enough to have figured it out...the majority are losers, posers, game players, and pervs. Lying is also very common (especially about age, height, and employment.. can we say low self esteem?) Another thing I think is hysterical is the men who are searching for that sweet young thang 15-20 years younger than their alleged age and they look like they are 20 years older than their alleged age!
But don't despair.. I have met a very few exceptional guys on this site and I haven't thrown in the towel completely on men. You never know, you might actually find that gem in the haystack.

I can't believe people actually do cyber sex. (I'm not poking fun here I'm just surprised). I am really curious though to know if maybe you are running into the problem guys find on these sites, where girls will seem like they are all hot and willing and then ask you to sign up for another site, or a cam site, or send you their rates 
Your first clue should always be if they ask you to contact them at a an e-mail address outside of this website. This is a free site, we can e-mail back and forth to each other without having to pay for it, so why on earth would I need to contact you on a private e-mail? I even saw in one girls profile say "I am not a full member and can't reply to your message." I laughed so hard because I have already replied to messages and know for a fact she is lying so hard.
A lot of these people are fishing for add revenue, every time they get you to click on a link through their personal e-mail to you, they make money. And a lot of the girls that use this scam are actually guys with like 3 or 4 accounts that are sending like 100 messages a day trying to get you to click on their links. (When I first signed up for this site, within like 2 min, before I even finished my profile I had 2 messages for fake girls trying to get me to contact them outside of this site, sorry I'm not that gullible or insecure).
They are playing on peoples insecurities and though it's not really right, it's actually quite clever. There are people on this site who are here because they are insecure about meeting people in real life so they see a hot chick or hot guy that seems really into them saying "this is how you should really get in touch with me. . . " and then they become victims and feel even worse about themselves.
We are here to have fun don't let silly things like that ruin it for you, and use the forums, you can weed out a lot of that nonsense really easy that way.
