So after dating a girl for three years who always closed the door when she went to the bathroom and never felt comfortable going in front of me, I just assumed that most girls were this way. However, I recently hooked up with this girl who came in and used the toilet while I was standing there brushing my teeth. I was pretty shocked, especially because at that point we had only known each other a short time and had only seen her naked for the first time a few hours before. So, my question is... is it more common for couples to always keep going to the bathroom a private thing, or do most couples feel comfortable going in front of each other eventually?

I don't see keeping the door open as a big deal in a solid/long term/committed relationship that's leading to marriage or is such, but wouldn't go there if it was someone I had recently met.

It depends on which function is being done in my presence.Number "1" is not so offensive,but I would prefer to be out of the room if she's going number "2".

it depends on the woman.... usual answer sorry. I know so many women that will pee in the parking lot and not think twice. NOT ME! I still can't use the restroom in front of my man.
I was looking at a house the other day, master bedroom and bathroom were connected, no doors.. so i'm thinking, "okay, the toilet must be in it's own little room..... I go in, NOOOO it's right there infront of the shower next to the tub. I asked the realtor about it and she says "oh you'll get used to it" My ass, I told her I've been with my man for 5 years, I doubt very seriously I'll get used to using the bathroom in an open room. okay, sorry for the little story

Maybe I'm weird. I got used to always having the bathroom door open. I stayed away from dating and relationships a long time and got used to the door being open - the cats would just want to come in anyway!  (I'll never figure out why that's one of their favorite rooms - they're cooped out in there now.)
After years of that, shutting the door just seemed, well, unnecessary. Going in while he's in there? Hey - when you gotta go, you GOTTA go!
