I call it an American Beauty situation. Remember the film? The guy had a major thing for a teenage girl. Well, I have found myself in a situation like that. One of the women at work had her 16 year old daughter come in to work and I spent some time talking to her. She was very quiet. I saw her a second time and she talked a bit more. She is such a cutie.
It seems that I am only attracted to much younger women now. Much MUCH younger. Is this common in men my age or do you think this is happening only because of my special circumstances?

in old west marriage at 15ish was normal but hell wasn't life expectancy 50ish??

I don't care what the consent is, or where...if a 40 year old man was talking to my 16 year old daughter...prison would be the LEAST of his worries...
Hell, now at the age of 19...any 40 year old man talking to her...prison would still be the least of his worries...

Just to set the context of my comment straight ... my bringing up of age-of-consent laws has nothing to do with what I personally feel on the matter of a 40-year-old man having desires for a 16-year-old girl. It was merely to shed some light on the fact that legally-speaking, 18 is not a magic number as some seem to have been led to believe. It is your prerogative of course as to what you want to do with that information. But more information is, in my opinion, always better than less when it comes to discussing any topic. Ynot raises an interesting question about the correlation between AoC and life expectancy. I have no deep answer except to say that the setting AoC's is far from trivial and depends on so many things, including life expectancy, general level of literacy, culture and so forth. As long as people realize that this is a complex and varied topic that goes beyond the simple statement of "less than 18 implies jail", my job is done.
Personally, I believe the OP has been honest with his feelings about the matter and deserves to be cut some slack at least in the form of civility. He has violated no laws as far as I can tell, nor has he actually pursued the said girl, nor has he indicated any plan to do so. The personal attacks seem unwarranted and disproportionate in my opinion. Sorry if this opinion offends anyone.
