Okay, here's a guestion. When you get a request from someone to add them as your friend and you have never spoken to them do you add them? If not, do you deny their request or write to them?

hmmm once n a while i write them...but ONLY if i think theres some reason for the request ......example..several of my ''friends'' are male and thats cause i can post comments to their blogs and it's auto approved if yer a friend....

Very good question, Sweet! I only approve friends when I have a sense that they are good people. It matters not about posting comments - I have mind set to approve all automatically...however several of my friends don't have theirs set that way.
I can tell some people see the friends list as a measure of popularity; this is not the case with me. I gave that shit up in 6thg grade. Same with going "nah-nah-na- boo-boo!

Sweet: when I first got here I got tons of friend requests and just approved them without thinking much of it. Sunny's blog hit home to me with her reasoning behind approving a friend request or not, and I decided it was time for me to take control of my "friend" list and make it for real. Now my list is people that I respect, trust and interact with. Also, I've set it up so their comments are approved automatically.
Hey I haven't been "done" by Canu either!!!! *pouting*

I wonder what those that keep putting in request after declined request are thinking? That I'm going to decline the request 5 or 6 times by accident when I really meant to accept it? I don't think so. Wonder if an email asking them to just stop will help. Um, doubt it.

I doubt it! I think men are just slow to take hints like that. It is almost as if we are saying, "Surely you didn't mean to reject me...still...still....still..."
We do tend to be hardheaded at times.

You know, it's not just men who keep sending request - a few women have sent me more than one request. I finally figured out that if you just leave them - don't decline - you won't be bothered with repeated notices for requests from those people.
That said, let me also say that if I receive more than one request from someone, I often send a note explaining why I'm not accepting - which has nothing to do with not wanting to be ever be friends and everything to do with having already established a liking or fondness or respect for someone. I should also say that not sending a friends request to someone does not mean I don't or would not be their friend. Some people I just don't think would accept it.

I chose my good friends carefully, although there are others that I consider to be friends that are not on my list. I have to have somekind of deeper connection with them to put them on my list. Plus if somebody else is selective about their friends, and wants me as a friend, then I am honored and flattered by that, and it just makes it that much better.

I don't understand why anyone sends a friend request without even having some kind of dialogue going. I had one from a guy who had like 197 friends, all women, maybe he has a bet with someone as to how many women he can get in his friends list

OK so call me soft hearted, i don't wanna hurt anyones feelings for not accepting them as friends!!! But I have been cleaning out my friends list lately. Got nasty emails from a few that i did delete them. Oh well there loss!!!!!!!!!

I still get requests from people I've denied 4 or 5 times! I finally sent an email to a guy who's been trying to get me to add him since I've been here, explaining why I wouldn't add people I don't know at all...he sent me one back with his yahoo id!

I am not running a popularity contest therefore I'm not adding someone I have never spoken to. If we talk a few times and I feel good about adding the person as a friend then I will.
