How many of you have met someone in person that you met online? How did it go? Did you take any precautions?

I have met a LOT of the people I have talked to online. Met the man I live with online..
You should take precautions such as meeting in a public place, knowing more about them than just a name. I made sure that someone I trusted had all the pertinent information such as address, phone number, etc. Yes, do take precautions! Anyone not willing to give you all that information isn't someone you want to meet anyway.

Ynot is the scariest person I have met from online. Be cautious, meet in a public place. Make sure you have your own vehicle to leave when you are ready to leave. It's handy to have a cell phone on you too. And, I agree with Ponme, let someone know who you are meeting and where. You can't be too cautious but I don't think you have to be overly anxious either. Seriously, Y really was the scariest...and he's a very nice guy...they all have been.

Yep, over the last 10 years of online dating, I've met several men in person (some I even ended up dating!).
My rules are:
Need first and last name Car make/model Public meeting place All this info plus email address and screen name left with a friend/family member Pre-arranged check in with my "safety person" - in all seriousness, if I don't make that call, that person is to notify the authorities immediately. No excuses, no exceptions. Last minute changes in plans are not allowed
If he doesn't agree, we don't meet. PERIOD.

I've met plenty of people from online. My son's father was a man I met online, and pretty much any boyfriend I can think of I've bet online. Heh.
I used to play fast and loose and not take precations... All that got me was raped and a stalker. Those aren't any fun btw.
I now have a buddy system with a girl I work with. I take all the info I have on the guy and email it to her. Then when we meet up I take a pic of his car and license plate with my camera phone and txt it to her. Works out pretty well if you think about it... people can easily change their name for a night, along with other "personal" information... how many people think to change their license plate?
I might adopt the check in call idea... not a bad one.
Good luck and be SAFE

Taking pics with cell phone - GOOD IDEA!!!
Hey, Decatur - if you're on the up and up, aren't a rapist or stalker, and are honest, it shouldn't be a problem. Really, don't be so negative! That definately won't work!
I'm curious to know what it takes for a man to meet a woman - any precautions (other than condoms ;)
