Well the good news is that gas is lower temporarily but the bad news is the decrease is tied to a deepening recession.

 It cost me six dollars less to fill my tank this evening...it was a joyous occassion. However it was no solace for my huge loss in my retirement account due to the plunging stock market. I am thinking retirement may not ever be an option at this rate. These are scary times indeed.
Mudshark I do not know about you but I am still quite young on the inside inspite of the aging outside.

DovesTreasure, the idea some years ago was to give us the opportunity to invest for ourselves in our own retirement programs since SS will be gone by the time us baby boomers reach retirement. The economy has gone to sh*t now investing in your retirement isn’t looking too good and SS will be gone. Hell yeah its scary but what are we gonna do.

Even though we may not feel like spring chickens sometimes, in investing terms we three have a very long way to go. Do not give in to a sense of panic on recent events. There will be at least 2-3 of these bear markets over the next 14 years or so. Although the 60K in losses is not pleasant to view, I try to convince myself that I am having a second opportunity to purchase at prices of four years ago.
Mustang: Even with the current state of affairs I would invest the Social Security money if I could. Beating four percent return over 14 years will not be difficult.
Dove: You appear quite young on the outside as well.  However, I think I know what you mean. I do not feel that I am any different now than I was 20 years ago other than 30 more pounds that I am going to work on losing over the next six months.
I noticed gas at $3.09 on the way to the office today.
It is great to have some good conversations on the Florida board.

I'm getting a 5.8 % raise in Jan..
Still pisses me off that I blew what I had on a boat and bummin' around the Caribbean for ten years though...
I just never imagined that I'd live to be over 50 y/o 
P.S....It was worth it

It is easy to spot the fakes, and the scam artists.. they really suck at it and trying to carry on any sort of dialogue with them usually does them in. They make me laugh but at the same time make me angry. I know some really good people that have been conned badly. Now I shall get out my can of fake be gone and will make them go bye bye.
