You provide an option to keep a login persistent. However, once the login would have expired, queries to the database are nonfunctional until you browse to your home page, which resets the session cookie. It's almost like it was halfway implemented.

You are auto-logged in when a new session starts. If you sign in and then sign out, your session is still "open", but you are not signed in anymore. Only if you close your browser or come back to the site after your session has expired, you will be auto-logged back in again. The reason for this functionality is because you would never be able to sign out of Matchdoctor. Any time you load a page after logging out, you would be logged right back in again automatically.
We've never really had complaints about auto-login before, only when the behavior I just described above was happening. Some people like to have auto-login, but the ability to sign out and then back in as invisible.
