I know a suggestion was put in to mark blogs that don't automatically approve all comments. Personally most of the blogs are by newbies who don't realize the comments even have settings. My suggestion is change the default to automatically approve all comments in the first place. If a person then wants to change it that means they thought about it and went and worked out how to do it. This to me would seem to fix the problem in 90 percent of cases. How about it Bear??

I second the suggestion. A lot of unnecessary misunderstandings and flame wars can be avoided this way.

The author of the blog would still retain the ability to remove abusive comments nat. Also as you are blocked on most peoples lists it is not really a problem.

When you go to post a comment on a blog, it will tell you at the top of the page if your comment will be automatically approved or will need approval now.

When you go to post a comment on a blog, it will tell you at the top of the page if your comment will be automatically approved or will need approval now. I guess what you mean is that after we click the "post" button we will be told if the comment is auto-approved or pending approval. The problem with this is that you have to post a comment first to make that discovery. People in general don't like to go through the effort of writing a comment only to discover they have to wait to see it appear. One can of course post a dummy comment to test a blog but I think that's a crude workaround and a rather discourteous one at that.

Uhhhhh didn't it always used to do that anyway? Yes I'm quite sure it did. After you hit post a little blue banner used to come up telling you the approval status... It has been that way a long time. Sooo... nothing new I guess....

When you go to post a comment on a blog Calm down guys...he's saying that when you get to the post comment page, it will tell you before you write your comment at the top of the page. So, when they put this feature it, it will be a matter of looking for it.

When you go to post a comment on a blog, it will tell you at the top of the page if your comment will be automatically approved or will need approval now. I take "now" to refer to what is in force currently, not a feature that will be here in the future.

Ooh...looking for a debate, are you?
I think how you understand this is how you read it. You saw the emphasize on "now" at the end of the sentence; I saw the emphasis on "when you go..." and "...it will tell you.." If the reference was to the current way things are, I would think he would say "After you post...it tells you..."
It seems to me that if they weren't going to change anything, they would simply say "this isn't a feature we plan to add" or something like that. But MDTech2 did say that something was in the works back in July. The Bear is simply going to have to come back and clarify! *tap, tap, tap* We're waiting!

We will be making that coding change in the next day or two. When you click the "post a comment" link, you'll be shown whether the blogger automatically approves comments or not.
