How many people out there have vanity license plates on your car? How many people ever thought about getting them? If so, up to 7 characters on the plate itself, what would you get on them? For those of you who have them already, what do your plates say on them? I have always took an interest in license plates and saved them over the years. I think it's pretty cool to check out plates from each state with their design and slogan on each of them. For the record, I have had the vanity plates off and on since the late 1990's, and there is one little problem that I really hate with them. I think it's pretty unfair to have them year after year and still have to pay the special fee which is $35 more for that little sticker for the same vanity plate you have. I can certainly understand paying a one time fee the first time when you get them, but not every year. What a way for states to make money off people. Btw, my name is on my license plates.
Also, I would love to know what your state plates look like. In Ohio their red, white, and blue (Mostly white in the middle, a 2 inch blue strip on the bottom of the plate, and 2 inch red strip on top of the plate. The letters and numbers are navy blue in color.

I am way to cheap to give the state anymore money than I have to...if I did it would be a toss up between DOBEMOM or WHIPPET or something to do with my 4 legged kids.

Hmmmm, gee, thanks for pointing that out, Ashintrix. Not sure why I even added the "e" to the mix. It's been corrected.
Btw, why not answer my question in this blog?

Unless you're a small business owner, it's just money down the drain.

I have "vanity plates", they cost me a one time added fee of $3 to get them and they are my ham radio call sign. All that is necessary is a form that the Secretary of State's office has and a copy of your ham radio operator's license and they will have the plate made.

I do not have one, in the state that my truck is licensed in it takes a year to complete the process. I felt that was to much time and BS to mess with it. I have been told in the state of IL. that they cost less than the regular plate, not sure why this would be.

I thought about it but that's as far as that went. I don't want to pay the extra money for it especially when I can use the money elsewhere for something more useful.

I left out one other item. I do pay for a "support wildlife" tag, it is $35.00 or so. I do this because I do not want the county that I live in on my tag. The wildlife tag does not have the county and the standard ones do. Here is something else interesting. In the state of MO. if you have a truck that is or is going to have a combine GVWR of 12k lbs. or more (truck and trailer) then they issue one plate that goes on the front. That is correct, you do not get a tag for the back. Keep in-mind that MO. requires one plate for the front and one for the back as standard issue. Have you ever wondered why you see a 3/4 ton truck without a tag on the back of it or a "John Deere" tag? This is why and it is legal.
