At the core of what is called freedom of speech lies a very pertinent quote attributed to a philosopher long dead;
Voltaire.
"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to my death the right to say it."
If a French dude 300 odd years ago could embrace such a concept, then shouldn't we, having grown up in an age of enlightenment and tolerance, be able to embrace it?
Or is it that the very tolerance and enlightenment that the world affords us that makes us unable to give that very same back? Our selfishness as the very root of the problem?

Our selfishness as the very root of the problem?
Yes! I truly think it is!
Now, if you'd like, I'm happy to practice a little selflessness on you.

The
right
to say it. Ya know, the other day my 7 year old daughter saw a man and a women in uniform. She walked over and tapped the lady on the arm and told them "Thank you for serving our country!"
I explained to her what they fight for and how fortunate we are to be part of America. One of these rights we are fortunate enough to have is freedom of speech. I agree with the others, if ya don't like it, flip the channel. I see things and people everyday that I don't like, and I choose to look away. There are tons of things I disapprove of in everyday life, but I can't go around writing everyone a ticket telling them they are wrong or offensive. So.......after days of the most annoying blogs, some I chose not to read, I think people need to move on, grow up, quit whining and quit rubbernecking!!
