Do you use a fork or spoon when eating pie or cake? And what are you eating the pie on, a plate, dish, or in a bowl? This whole thing got me thinking when I see people sometimes eat their piece of pie or piece of cake in a bowl with a spoon. I thought how strange that was, because that's the least type of way I would like it served that way. Now, I have to eat mine on a dish, and sometimes maybe a plate with a fork, to me that's normal. What about any of you, what combination do you like?

OK, wtf is a dish? a plate is flat, a bowl is rounded... wtf is a dish then? I use whatever is handy...

Who really cares, the object is simply to hold it for the time it takes you to consume it, as well as the utinsel... if it is capable of getting the food from the plate, bowl or DISH, haven't they all served their purpose?

I like a plate and fork for my cake, but a bowl and spoon for my pie. Especially hot apple pie with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce! Mmmmm, I gotta go shopping, I need to bake now!

As for fork or spoon, do you really need my answer on that one?

And I like bowls because they can contain the mess easier... but if it's on a plate I won't complain. And it's usually a fork. I guess that means my spoon comes in different forms

The correct way to eat cake is on a plate with a fork. I know this to be true as my father came from a once wealthy family and whenever he was home on shore leave from the Navy he would take some of his shipmates home for tea. They would be served sitting at a polished mahogany dining table with the full compliment of cutlery and glasses. My father was never phased by fancy restaurant's and would sometimes even point out their errors (but only to those sat at the table and never to the staff or management) usually this happened when he was bored. He was a working man who wouldn't have wanted a life of luxury as he preferred to be active he was a charming man (a hit with the women in fact) and very loyal to my mother who he loved dearly.
He was bu no means perfect but he was some one to be proud of, shame that while he was alive we rubbed each other up the wrong way most of the time but I know that he loved me as much as I loved him. God bless you dad and may you be happy wherever you are, I know you will be too as mum is now with you.

Eating pie or cake out of a bowl is inexcusably ridiculous and should be outlawed. The utensil question is a little tricker, though. I definitely err on the side of the fork, but when something is served a la mode or has ice cream as a major component, then you might want to throw a spoon into the mix. If it's right out of the freezer or something, then the fork will continue to do the job. But if it's melting--because it's been sitting out or because there's hot fudge or something all over it--then I start to get pissed when it starts slipping through the tines of my fork. Really pissed. Don't be afraid to have both handy if you're not sure how things will shake out.

ok if i have ice cream with it I want it in a bowl or more than likely the ice cream will end up melting and dripping and just make a mess, oh hell i'll eat it off of whatever is clean and available!!!

I still wanna know what the fuck a dish is???

I eat pie with a spoon because for some reason that's the utensil they give me when I order pie from Burger King. Is there like a plastic fork shortage?
