I got to meet a guy today, right on the doorsteps of my business, while I was playing my banjo, smoking a cigarrette in the middle of this cold front. The guy stopped and listened to what I was playing... some Bluegrass Classic I learnt while I lived in Kentucky.

String instruments have always being my passion. I play guitar, violin, banjo, mandoline and the sitar. I actually used to make a living as a musician back when I was younger; music "outgrew me", and my remains for it get played on my doorsteps or with some few guys I know in a jam session.

The guy congratulated me for playing that song, and I thanked him.
My words were like dagger to his ears... his eyes expressed somewhat of a concern. He asked me: "where did you learn to play the banjo??" - with his southern accent. I answer: "I learnt to play it while I was living in Kentucky."
Again, the look in his eyes showed some concern... He was very doubtfull of my answers... a very strange disconcern was covering his face.... All of a sudden, the question came up: "Do You Guys Play the Banjo in Mexico???"

I just couldn't stop laughing... I knew that question was coming.

I have an accent; a mixture of Italian, Portuguese, and Romanian. My father's from Romania, my mom is Italian, and I was born in Venezuela. I speak all those three language, and English (I feel fortunate to have been raised in a home where everyone spoke a different language). I have lived in the US for 12 years or so, but the accent will always be there. The US is my home

I explained the guy where I was from (I could tell he wasn't sure where it was. Yet, he knew who Hugo Chavez was but couldn't locate Venezuela well in his map), and we started talking about what, in my opinion, makes this gorgeous country my home. The music, the big cities, and small towns...

We suddenly started talking about why I was interested in learning how to play the banjo. I explained him that, to myself, the best way to be part of America is to actually do what America does: play the banjo is only one thing; among many other (learn the history, etc etc).

Suddenly the conversation went to talking about girls. He told me he's been here since Katrina, and that even though he was happy to have lifted himself up in this town, he just can't find a girl (mmmm, sounds kinda familiar).
We suddenly got into talking about the "Sex in the City" syndrome, and the conversation ended up with some beers at Stoney's (the neighborhood bar), talking about small town girls.

I love girls overall!!! Yet, which girls/guys would you boys and girls?

I hope this blog doesn't create any controversy. It's just very simple, and it's just opinions.

I live in a city which is considered one of the busiest city in the world, I've seen different kinds of women from all walks of life, but I still consider myself as a small town girl. I've asked myself so many times, am I so ugly that I have to be so lonley like this? No dates, no bf wtf, am I such an ogre?

That was a pretty good story. To answer your question, I like both, variety is good.

We leave out a lot of other locals that girls are stereotyped of.

You've got Small town girls, City girls, and suburban girls... and there are others as well...

Small town girls are nice. but small towns are boring.
City girls are always on the go... can't really pin them down much... but on the plus side, they are fun, and they can leave you alone when you want to be...
Suburban girls... Can be kinda easy... spend enormous ammounts of time making themselves look good (which trying to look good is a plus)... but shallow and uninteresting.

Those would be the stereotypes... here in Socal at least.

Yeah, I think maybe you would have a bigger response on this blog if you had said "women" instead of "girls".
