I totally screwed up last Valentine's Day last year. I searched everywhere for a good gift for her. I was going to buy her a trench coat warm enough for her to wear in Canadian winters (where she resides) but couldn't find one here in Southern California. I finally settled on a nice ceramic statue of two penguins making a heart. I also bought a lovely card.
By the time I got to wrapping the statue, it had broken into three or four parts. and it turns out that the card I got was actually addressed to Dad. Who writes Valentine's cards to their dads?
Needless to say, she did everything perfect. She got me a nice thoughtfull gift, a lovely heartfelt card, a box of Canadian chocolates, and she even gave me a lap dance. She and I never saw one in person before, so she didn't know if she was doing it right but I didn't know either. It was still enticing.
After all that, I confessed all that happened and settled on buying her dinner. She didn't mention anything about it during her visit, but later she confessed that she was very dissappointed in her e-mails.
We have since broken up, but I have decided I'm never going to be in a relationship before February 14th ever again.
I'm wondering if anyone else had a bad experience like that.

At this point, I'd settle for a lap dance from a penguin...

I'll be spending this Valentine's Day with that good ol' standby Vaseline! May not be a woman, but I get the same result and it only costs me five dollars a jar!

That's pretty sad. I never had that problem. Hope if you do find someone I hope both of you don't put too much stock in Valentines Day. Yes, it's a special holiday, but don't let it ruin doing things for each other year round.

Well, I went out on our first date in Valentine;s Day with my ex about 8 years ago... and, thre years later I made the mistake to tell her that "I didn;t realize it was Valentine;s Day, and that I just thought our date was going to be a simple One Night Stand". Oh boy, did I make a mistake... I had to heard it for the remaining 3 years of our marriage...
