How many guys out there can actually fix breakfast, lunch, and dinner for yourself or family? What about laundry and house cleaning? If so, what are some of the things you fix? Not too many guys can do all these that women can. I guess a lot of guys feel like they don't have to learn these things and will marry a woman who will do it all for him. But to the guys out there that can, my hat's off to ya. I am one of those guys that can do all that. As for cooking, I can whip up most things, but there are some meals I would choose to pass on because of the time involved and the mess that I would make. Haha

Botton line, it's just not a womans job, it's also a mans job! Nothing wrong with helping out around the house.

I suck at trying to fix cars. But then, I really never even attempt to try to fix them in most cases...I pay to have stuff done in that area.

I learned by poor example. Oddly enough, from my little brother.

As we were growing up, he was the baby of the family, and as such was pampered. He barely was required to do a thing and as such grew up being used to it. As a result, he only performed what activities interested him. Tuning his motorcycle was fun; doing the laundry was not.

I quickly realized that a guy like that was never going to impress a woman easily. Not that a man has to be a doormat, but a woman likes a man who can be artistic, industrious and domestic as the situation calls for it. He should be able to build her new furniture, choose the right colors for it, and periodically dust it once it's in use.

I'd like to think that at least in the situation of my brother and I that I have case in point: I've had lots of lovers, relationships, and some pretty outrageous sexual adventures, not to mention a wife who is always looking for new playmates for us.

My brother, on the other hand, has had two girlfriends, one sexual encounter, and one marriage that's perpetually on the rocks.

Guess it goes to show learning is an option.

I have two teenagers that I cook for when I have them as well as myself. I do simple foods as well as most, from hamburger helper, to spaghetti to smoking ribs, turkeys and such. When I get bored with that I get the cookbook out for something new and exciting. I do my laundry, vacuum the house and scrub it as well. I do all my own home and car repairs as well. I work handyman jobs on the side. I was taught in high school how to take care of myself. Mom taught me all the basics. As I keep telling them I make some woman a good wife…lol

....oh I live alone, so I do it all. Can't afford maid service. Cook, clean, wash, laundry. All the sundry things - have to if I want to live. I also work on my own vehicles and all the other manly assigned jobs. Have to again, lol.

My first LTR of years ago was at university and thus at home frequently while I already had a fulltime job ... and he was madly into cooking ... so when it ended I had to learn quite a bit about household chores ... but I'm getting better

I do a lot of the cooking. Anything from biscuits and gravy to chicken & dumplings to making my own salsa from scratch.
I raise a garden, landscape and plant flowers, work on my own vehicles and can do anything on a house from concrete to roofing, etc.,. I even butcher my own deer.
I leave the dishes and laundry to my teenage sons.
I learned to cook because of my mom's lack of using spices in her meals. And, I learned to work on cars because I'm a cheap bastard that refuses to pay for something I can learn to do on my own. Even if it entails buying a manual and tools to undertake it.
I always believed that being educated is the best thing you can do for yourself. If the civilized world falls apart, I have little fear of starving to death or freezing from exposure. Besides, the more I can do, the less I have to rely on others to do for me.

Well now, let's see...when you live as a bachelor, you either learn how to do for yourself...or you live as a pig!

Hell yes I can make breakfast, lunch, as well as dinner! Not only have I had to do it for myself when I've lived with myself...but even when I've been in relationships when the woman I was with had kids...fact is...I actually enjoy doing so!

I also love to bake as well, fact is in my 4-H years...I won many blue ribbons, and my brownies won the Grand Champion Blue Ribbon 3 years straight! NO, not those kind of brownies...

When it comes to laundry...I do as my mother taught me...yes, I do sort my clothes out before doing them. I never just toss whatever in the washer, actually I've been told when it comes to doing my laundry, that I'm quite anal about the task.

And I like a clean house, and even like to clean my house...hell, I dare any woman to come and prove to me she can clean a better house than I!

I dust, I vacuum, I sweep, I mop, I do dishes (even though I hate doing them. ) I scrub the tub, the toilet, and at times when I feel it's needed...I'll get down on my hands and knees and scrub the floors! And yes, I will even move the fridge, and the furniture when I vacuum, sweep, and mop the floors. And once a month I'll sprinkle my carpet with carpet deodorizer, I also shoot my furniture with Febreze weekly, and use Lysol once a month!

I'm not very good at making the bed on a daily basis, however, I change my bedding weekly. And I give my pillows a spray down with Lysol, as well as the bed itself! I also like to use Glade scented air fresheners, vanilla is my favorite! And yes, I also love to light a lot of scented candles!

And last but not least...........YES I do put the toilet seat down!

As I said...I dare any woman to come prove to me she can clean better than I!! Oh yeah, I forgot...when I put away my groceries...everything has it's place and everything MUST face forward...just as they do in grocery stores!

Yes peoples...I am that anal!!

Brother Shawn, a great blog. I was expecting it to turn "perverted" as I read it, was pleasantly surprised to see that you have gone "outside" of your standard repertoire.

Being married twice and soon to be divorce twice, with GF's in between, I learned long ago dto do all these things. Not only can I whip up a meal for two or more in a short amount of time, I am cleaning the kitchen as I go so that all there is left to do is the dishes afterwards. I hand wash and dry them, because I don't really like "dishwashers" unless it's someone else doing the washing.lol.

I can clean my master bath and guest bath, incuding the toilets, in about 45 minutes, and have all the vacuuming and dusting done in about an hour.

I have even managed to solve the "ultimate mystery of doing laundry !!! I know how to separate the whites: cold water, delicate cycle,no bleach, fluff dry; to hot water, regular cycle... and so on with the colored load, light and darks separated... I even know what is to be dry cleaned !!!

I know how to do all these thing, but I very seldom do them alone. In our home the chores are usually split 50/50.

Ok, around the house I am:

Computer geek
Clean-freak
music man
the romantic one
i hang out with our baby every so often

She does:

cooking
cleaning
baby stuff
laundry

why we do what we do:
we're both good at what we do separately... and not to mention I hate doing the dishes... god, I never get SO BORED... it's so weird, I can scrub tables & shit when I really need to, but I will abhor the dishes. I can scrub walls just a step under dishes I think, and as for the baby stuff: Our daughter likes me for entertainment and mom for the necessities & some entertainment...

I love cooking for other people. However I find breakfast meals really boring I’d much rather do dinner. I’ll actually spend all day cooking dinner if needed anything from leg of lamb to prime-rib to shrimp chowder to fried calamari… Shrimp & Pasta is one of my favorites though but don’t get me started on all the sauces for that. Aww now I’m making myself hungry. Cleaning though I'm not very fond of but I can do it.

Good blog topic. I'm cooking dinner as we speak, because my wife is the one bringing home the bacon. I can handle the meals, although my repertoire isn't particularly impressive. But I recently realized that compared to my single friends, I'm a fucking stud in the kitchen. I'm religious about dishes and laundry. The other shit--bathrooms, vacuuming, dusting--are my responsibilities, but I tend to do them a little more sporadically, much to my wife's consternation. I do odd jobs around the house when necessary, but I have to be honest--I'm really not super-handy. But I can get the job done.

Now cars are a different matter. I don't have a fucking clue how my car works, and I never will. We lease, so it's not a huge issue.

Well now, let's see. I don't really like people invading my kitchen, unless it is for some fun . I even cooked for the daycare my ex had for many years. I have built a couple houses, and remodeled a few, with little outside help. I also enjoy spending time working on my buggy. As you can tell, I hate hiring out - must be the farm boy in me. And no, the sheep didn't run scared. My girls love to come over for visits, as they know the meals won't be burned.
