Apartment living with people to the left, right, above, and below is not for me. I guess it would be okay if most if the residents were relatively normal and not problematic. Alas, that is not the case. The status quo is that I can watch Law & Order on TV or frequently take in a live performance here.

It is never anything like a burglary, robbery, domestic violence, assault, etc. It is all petty squabbling like you see on this site where it needlessly escalates to the point that somebody calls the cops. I am sure that the police roll their eyes at these wastes of their time when they could be dealing with real crimes. I get along with everyone here and have a lot of friends. But many people, including my friends, do not get along with one another.

Anyway, as we speak, I am in the process of moving about ten miles north on the mainland. I call it the bungalow. It is pretty big 1 BR, about 1,300 square feet. It is also very unusual. It has never been rented out before and it used to be a lawn mower repair shop that the owner inherited from his late father and subsequently converted to a “house”. It has never had a phone line or even a mailbox! It is a corner lot and has a very nice yard (the owner mows it) that is almost an acre that includes a pecan and lemon tree. I'll be able to put in a garden and will do so in about a month. It is at the end of a small housing track with nicely kept homes inhabited largely by people my age or older that have lived there for many years.

It suits me and my lifestyle really well as it is almost like being in the country. Yet it is about a half a mile from I 45 and all of the stores of the suburbs of greater Houston are within two miles to the north. To the south is the gulf with marshes, wetlands, estuaries, bayous and backwaters(a lot of good fishing spots nearby). Within a quarter of a mile to the south there are signs warning that it is an alligator habitat. Unfortunately, it also a mosquito habitat. There is a park with a fishing pier, barbecues, and dining pavilions about a mile and a half away adjacent to a bayou where the real good fishing is.

I am enthused about having better TV channel selection (satellite). I really look forward to having reliable Internet access. However, the thing that means the most to me is the possibility of having a puppy pal. The owner is not a pet person so I am not going to inquire about that for awhile until I establish that I am a good steward of the property. As it has been in his family for many years, he has an emotional attachment and is understandably very protective of it.

I have made several friends on the island, mostly guys where I am at now, and I will miss them. Not to be conceited, but they will miss me more. My place currently is essentially the man cave for partying and people who don't partake in the festivities of my man cave bitch about it.

We will still be within about twenty minutes of one another so we can still hang out together. We all like to go fishing so we can incorporate that into our GTGs along with eat, drink, be merry (watching sports, listening to rock and roll, playing cards/dominoes). We will definitely have a much better environment than we do presently.

I will miss being able to walk around the corner to unique eateries, bistros and pubs. I'll also miss going a quarter of a mile to the beach at night or around dawn for a swim in the gulf when I have it all to myself. But all of that will be offset by my not bothering other people, other people bothering each other and, most importantly, other people not bothering me.

I HATE moving. At 55, I feel too low on energy and initiative to box up ALL my belongings,
haul them MILES away, just to do it all in reverse. BAH!

I'm glad you've found a place to live that suits you. Mebbe a replacement for Manfred and
Diedre in the offing...??

Never bothered me living in apartment buildings, We used to carry on conversations by yelling at each other out the windows LOL Everyone did that and it did not seem to bother anyone in the neighborhood, At least the only person who called the cops was the old lady who lived over the Cafe Wha who would call them and report loud music, Finally the landlord called her family to come get her as she was being a pain in the butt to everyone who lived around her, That being said, at this point in my life living in a house does have its advantages as I tend to be nocturnal and sleep in the morning hours, Not that the noise would bother me as I can sleep through pretty much anything but me running my sewing machine at 4am might not make me a popular neighbor, The only people it disturbs now is my oldest son but that is another story,

Well hello Bruce! I got your e-mail today so I thought maybe if I came here I could get the poop scoop and see what's up with you and so I did and good grief, you've moved again! But it sounds like a good deal for you.

I slip in here every once in awhile but just can't get with the program anymore. Bunch of strangers and seldom us old bloggers and I guess DC got his wish...it's back to what it use to be...sex 'n sex 'n sex...nothing really interesting about that for me anymore yet the vanilla site is soooooooo boring.

Anyway, sorry I missed your call awhile back. I've just been in over my head with busyness most all summer 'n gettin' real tired of it all but that's another story.

I'm glad things are good for you and hopefully you will be able to get another puppy pal one of these days. Take care of yourself, k?
