In reality the best part of this site was the blogs after 9/11 up to the year of 2012 when I had to leave but upon returning 2014 it has dwindled down to zero. The blogs were so active that it seemed like you were instant messaging. Now its not blogland anymore its wasteland. Why?

Same old thing--trolls and harassment. When a couple of frequent posters step away,
the site dies that much more.

I've seen the gradual decline in blogs as well, and have a couple thoughts. Active bloggers have lives like everyone else, and sometimes don't have the time or desire to blog. But as the site has declined in members, there have been no new bloggers to replace the regulars that slow down for whatever reason. People also have more and more options on how they communicate with others. You are right, it used to be a "community", especially the Saturday Night Parties". I've heard people lament the decline of chat rooms as well. We can now text, IM, tweet and many other options I've declined to use. Many now want the 144 character method of communicating. Hell, to condense my thoughts into 144 characters would take more time than it's worth. So I'm glad to see you back, and hope you and others blog more and share your thoughts.

People got bored with the blog posts and many migrated to Face Book.

The blogs here and on the vanilla site were THE reason I stayed, interesting, not too many arguments, or at least not as many in proportion to the number of blogs posted. I think sometime in the depression, maybe '09 or '10 things started going bad. Fewer posts, fewer interesting ones, more looneys and a lot of fighting.

My pet theory is that a lot of people lost their jobs and internet access or just didn't feel up to participating any longer. I left several times but after a year or so came back just to see. I also can't delete my account, lol.

So....we have our present situation.

Some hang out on face book, others are busy with life. Some it's both, face book and busy with life.

I check in to see what is going on, that's about it anymore. I usually hang out on the vanilla site more because it's a little more active. And over there they've done some upgrades where everyone now can use the "viewed me" and put pictures in their blogs/forum posts, and comments. And they did away with the whole Gold Membership.

They plan on doing that for over here also eventually.

Most of us actively blog on Facebook, The site lost several members who were active bloggers, With no one to replace them the tumbleweeds started to roll through town, Some of us who are left just don't really see the point in making the effort now,

I never trusted social media like Facebook, etc. You're sharing too much personal
information with the world that way.

BTW, I stumbled across this the other day, when my firewall alerted me to
a port being scanned. (I'm a regular visitor to the Drudge Report). Apparently, it's not
just social media anymore...

(Hmmmm. I wonder why Homeland Security needs to monitor the Drudge Report...???)

I don't know why I have a server error on my end as to waiting for approval & not being able to change it to automatically approved & I do apologize for this but I will approve all. Every one knows I'm not chicken shit like that. Hopefully the crap gets corrected. Why would you have waiting for approval when everyone has the touch of a delete button. That is a very stupid thing this site has done. Hell you waste your time & effort posting a comment & never see it. At least with automatic approval & the delete button you know whose nose is up in the air.

For me, anyway, allowing friends to post automatically and all others to wait until I
approve a comment inhibits trolls, assholes, etc. from commenting on my blog. That
way I don't have to continuously police everything I've written in order to keep the idiots
from having the last word. It's a last resort when all other measures for exterminating
trolls have failed. I have the same settings enabled.

That's just ME, though...
