I apologize for taking so long to respond to you sweet people who commented on my last blog. I'm sure you understand.

My nephew is improving. He responds to commands to wiggle his toes and squeezing the nurses hands. His lung is still collapsed but they're draining the fluid and when that is gone, it should re-inflate.

He has taken some breaths on his own so they're hoping to wean him from the ventilator over the next couple of days.

The accident was his fault. He didn't see the stoplight in time to stop and collided with a semi. It pretty much ran over the cab of his pickup.

His truck door bent over him and did the most damage to his face and chest. His cheekbone is crushed. He has a large cut from the middle of his forehead down to his chin, causing much damage to his nose and splitting his upper lip in half...yet, luckily, his teeth are intact.

He lost the top half of his left ear. His clavicle is broken as is his ribs on the left side. His ring finger was nearly torn off but they were able to sew it back and his thumb was cut up pretty bad but both have been repaired but it will take time to see how well they function.

There's a very large spot on top of his head that received a lot of damage from the window glass being ground into his scalp.

The report today is good. The swelling is going down, he's responding and was able to take a few breaths on his own. It's the pain that he's having to deal with that is so hard on him. But it looks as though he's going to make it but it will be a long recovery and probably several surgeries ahead of him.

And yes Dawn, he's related to me...tough 'n hard-headed. He's a fighter for sure!

Now, as for my garage sale...I did GREAT! Made a little over $400.00!!! Most I've ever made with one exception. Years ago, I cared for an invalid lady and when they moved from their farmhouse to an apartment, they gave me everything they didn't want. I made a little over $600 on that sale.

Let me tell you how exhausted I was...

After we got it all torn down and a lady friend of ours came and hauled the leftovers away, I could not find the cash box... I was devastated! Yet Susie said she asked me when a kid came in to shop while we were packing up, "Where's the money box?" I told her I'd already brought it in the house so it HAD to be in here somewhere!

After taking my sis's tables back to her, we came back here and started in the back bedroom. I'd repacked my dolls and brought them in. When I looked the first time, I thought both the boxes was full of dolls and didn't bother to look under the dolls ...this time we did and there it was! Whew! What a relief!

So it's all over with and now comes a few days of recuperation. I can't express how worn out I feel. I didn't even get to rest Sunday. We always go to the Flea Market the first Sunday of the month then out to have lunch with Susie's mom. Susie had foot surgery and can't drive so I had to take her. By the time we got home I almost felt ill with exhaustion. I crashed on the couch and slept for a few hours. I slept pretty good all night and didn't get up 'til almost 10:00 a.m. and felt pretty good...but it didn't last. I did some housework and pretty soon I just couldn't go any longer so I hit the couch and slept some more...and I'm still tired. It will take me several days to get my energy back but that's ok...I deserve some down time!

My best friend, Eva, stopped by one day of my garage sale to tell me her husband is back in the hospital. He keeps having symptoms of mini strokes but tests says that isn't the problem. I need to call her tonight and find out if he's home yet and if they know what's going on with him.

I'll tell ya...this summer, so far, isn't panning out the way I anticipated... And it's going too damn fast! Where is my 'coasting' time??? When is that gonna start??? I still have so much to do!!!

So anyway...that's where it's at at this point in time. Life is what it is. I'll revive and get back on track. My nephew will heal and be fine and busy or not, I'll enjoy this summer no matter what...as long as there's no snow, it's all good! Right Sugar????

Ya'll have a good week, be safe, be happy 'n keep smilin....

Hugs
Softie

You've got that right!!!

I am so glad to see your nephew is doing better. I saw those pictures you posted, and that truck was mangled. He's very lucky. Someone is definitely watching over him.

Congrats on the successful garage sale. Now take your time and rest up.

I am so very happy to not be an area that has a lot of ice, snow and cold weather It has been nice but a little weird here. The temps have been in the low eighties with water temperature being warmer than the air. The mainland has gotten quite a bit of rain recently, but we on the island haven't

I don't have much to report. I hang out with my pals drinking adult beverages, watching baseball and playing dominoes while cooking up creations. We go fishing too. I putter around in my garden. I put in two tomato plants and everyday for the past two months I have picked over dozen tomatoes every day and I am getting tired of eating them. They are finally began to slow down. The plants are weary from overproducing so I am going to have to apply some remediation techniques to attempt to revive them and produce more tomatoes in a couple of months.
