A blog about....stuff...
It's like Sugar said...What a winter this has been!!! For me, it's been strange in many ways besides the weather.
First of all, because of the bad weather, Susie and I spend A LOT less time together. That has given me immense pleasure in lots of solitary time and that has been like a good medicine for me. It's like the healing end of a long 3 years of, well, lots of crap I don't wanna talk about. Throughout those 3 years I figured out a lot of things but having solitude these past few months has brought it all together, a healing that has been a long time in coming.
As most of you know, my childhood gf, Eva moved just down the street from me last summer. Her and I started a Bible study last fall, once a week and this gawdawful weather has had the nerve to screw that up....grrrrrrrrrrrr!!! It's funny how it takes time to get use to an old friend coming back into your life. Sometimes I forget she's anywhere around because I'm just not use to it. I get busy in my daytime puttering and never think to call her just to chat. Then you know me 'n phone calls...I have this stupid idea that I don't wanna bother anyone or maybe interrupt something they're busy with so I just don't call yet when they call me, I am tickled pink!
(Just a side note stuck in here that I won't expound on...I'm pretty sure you-know-who is not happy about my old friend being back in my life and you know what I say? SO WHAT!)
Yesterday was Eva's birthday (tee hee hee...she's 9 months older than me so she got to turn 70 first...lol) So anyway, she called me to see if I wanted to go shopping with her up in da big city and grab some lunch. She caught me off guard and I was feeling kinda down but I did say yes, I'd go. What a wonderful day we had!!! Yanno after THREE years of fast food joints with you-know-who, it was exhilirating to be taken to a restaurant called Casa DeAngelo's...oh gaud, I felt so special and well...classy for a change! Her and I had been to one a very long time ago and she suggested back then having the house salad. Well you know me 'n salads!!! But out of courtesey I agreed...and it was delicious! I've always wanted another one and had told her that a long time ago. Well like all old good friends, she remembered that. We split a salad and bread on the side..MmmmMmmmMMmm.
Then we went to Kohl's Dept. store (NOT WALMART!) where she had a gift certificate to spend and I helped her try on clothes and we just laughed 'n laughed and gabbed until we got so turned around in the store we had to hunt our way back to the door we came in. I look forward to many, many more good times ahead!
Then last night was my family's 'cousin's get-together'. I wasn't gonna go but yanno what? It was time to get out 'n howl...besides, I was already dressed for the cold so why not? I had to drive something like 50 miles to get to the restaurant but no big deal, right? Well.........
By the time it was time to head home it was snowing buckets...and BLOWING. Oh my what a scary time driving home. At least half of the trip was on a north/south highway and man ya seldom could see the center line or the white line along the edge of the road. The wind would howl and turn it into a whiteout. It was 30-40mph all the way home. But yanno what? As scary as it was, it was also kinda exhilirating...well at least AFTER I got home...lol. You-know-who over the past 3 years had kinda put a dent in my independence...too over protective and I hadn't realized how much I'd allowed her to make me feel like I couldn't do these things anymore...but I DID it and it felt damn good...well, after I got home...
There's people jabbering and posting on facebook the scary report that February is suppose to be worse than January...tons 'n tons of snow and frigid temps. Well, I found out where that crap is coming from...The Farmer's Almanac! Some people swear by it but mostly, it's WRONG! The actual long term forecast is the first half of February is suppose to be colder than normal for the first half then warmer than normal the last half and not tons 'n tons of snow. But who knows...I guess we'll take what we get, huh?
Ok...time to do housework...lull is over.
Ya'll have a super day...stay warm, be safe 'n keep smilin'....
