I was chatting via email with a friend here and told about the time a couple of summers ago when I was leaving for work and got highly annoyed with some stupidity. First of all...I was running a bit late because Princess had a squirrel treed and didn't want to come in because she wanted to wait for the squirrel to come out of the tree. I went outside to get her and proceeded to chase the brat around the tree a couple of rounds before finally convincing the brat to get in the house. So, as I'm walking out the door to the car, I notice my neighbor talking to a couple of guys in suits...didn't think nothing of it. Got in the car, started the car, put it in reverse and was pulling out of my driveway when I turned to check that there were no cars coming, and here are those two guys in my driveway, flagging me to stop. Figuring maybe it was something important/urgent, I stopped, cracked the window open, and wtf????? They want to talk to me about going to church!!!!!!!! I thought to myself at that moment, "they stopped a car backing up for this???????????????????!!!" I politely told them no, I wasn't interested, and that I'm on my way to work. Then the one asked me; "Don't you want Jesus to save you?" and my reply to him was; "No, but you're going to want him to if you don't let me get to work.". Seriously, come on, a car in gear and moving, the driver is obviously in a hurry, and they stopped me for that? Takes some brains. No, not really.
Not too long ago, had some guy from ADT Home Security knocking on my door trying to sell me a home security system. I said no thanks, not interested, and he then asked wouldn't I feel more secure with their security system. The entire time this conversation is going on, I've got 5 dogs behind me barking. I finally told him I have my security system barking behind me. He then tried to tell me about Michigan law regarding dog bites, so I informed him that anyone stupid enough to break into my house after hearing these dogs would deserve what they get...and I didn't mean dogs biting them either.
And then there is everyone's favorite...the telemarketer. Aren't they fun? Call you anytime during the day to sell whatever it is they're selling. I especially like the ones that, after you tell them your number is on the Do Not Call List, they call again a few days later. Then there are the persistent ones who don't care. One in particular was trying to get me to change my auto insurance. After the third call, I finally told the telemarketer to "hang on a minute, I've got to find my drivers license".....sat the phone down, and then proceeded to finish up some house work I was doing. I checked back about an hour later, and no kidding, this person was still waiting!!!! I couldn't believe it. I finally told them I wasn't interested and hung up. They called again a few days later, and I told them again, not interested, that my number is on the Do Not Call registry, and asked nicely for them to not call anymore. Couple of weeks later...yep, called again. This time, I sat the phone by the dogs, "knocked" on the door to set them off barking and let the person on the phone listen to that for a minute. Haven't heard back since then.
Sometimes, you just have to have fun with life's little annoyances.
