The Rooney Rule requires National Football League teams to interview minority candidates for head coaching and senior football operation jobs. It is sometimes cited as an example of affirmative action, though there is no quota or preference given to minorities in the hiring of candidates. It was established in 2003
This is when the NFL started getting PC and stupid about things, and it continues today with such things as teams unable to wear their throwback helmets to match the rest of their throwback uniforms this year because of the increases for concern for head injuries.
There also has been discussions on doing away with kickoffs because of the risk of head injuries. The team with the ball would start out at their 25 or 30 yard line.
As for the Rooney Rule, it's too PC and more like affirmative action. People should always be considered for their ability in coaching, leadership, and past proven record, not by race.
