We had our Christmas party last night. It was a very nice gathering but much smaller than usual, only about ten people. Though invited to stay the night, I opted not to. It will be the first time that my friends will be able to spend Christmas morning together alone in their 37 years of marriage
I'll head up there for Christmas dinner this afternoon. It will just be the three of us. We'll have a spiral cut ham (the leftover slices will reappear as finger sandwiches on New Year's Eve), mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and cranberry sauce.
Where I am living now is with a couple in their early forties from the Czech Republic. They are research scientists at UTMB (aka M D Anderson). Her mother is here for the holidays and has been making a wide variety of scrumptious, delectable, unique traditional Czech Christmas cookies. I asked if I could get the recipes and was told that they are not written down but rather taught, handed down, from mother to daughter.
