What ever happened to freedom of speech in this country? To be able to voice an opinion, especially when asked in a magazine interview?

For you leftists out there who support Robertson's firing, how would you feel if you voiced your core beliefs with an opinion on a topic and was fired?

Remember, these are his opinions. It's A&E's loss. Him and his family certainly don't need the money.

Liberals preach tolerance for their core beliefs, but show none toward people with different core beliefs!

"Duck Dynasty" dad Phil Robertson has been suspended indefinitely by the A&E Network following his recent comments on homosexuality, the network announced Wednesday night.

"We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson's comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series 'Duck Dynasty'," the network said in a statement.

"His personal views in no way reflect those of A&E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely."

Earlier Wednesday, Roberston had responded to critics who had slammed him for very graphic statements he made about his preference for heterosexual sex over homosexual sex.

“I myself am a product of the 60s; I centered my life around sex, drugs and rock and roll until I hit rock bottom and accepted Jesus as my Savior,” he said in a statement sent to FOX411.

“My mission today is to go forth and tell people about why I follow Christ and also what the bible teaches, and part of that teaching is that women and men are meant to be together.

"However, I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me. We are all created by the Almighty and like Him, I love all of humanity. We would all be better off if we loved God and loved each other.”

We are all created by the Almighty and like Him, I love all of humanity

- Phil Robertson

In a wide-ranging interview with GQ, Robertson didn’t hold back when sharing his thoughts about homosexuality and sinning.

“Everything is blurred on what’s right and what’s wrong... Sin becomes fine,” he said. “Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.”

Paraphrasing Corinthians he added: “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”

The gay and lesbian rights group GLAAD was quick to criticize Robertson for his comments and called on A&E to take action.

"Phil and his family claim to be Christian, but Phil's lies about an entire community fly in the face of what true Christians believe," said GLAAD rep Wilson Cruz. "He clearly knows nothing about gay people or the majority of Louisianans – and Americans - who support legal recognition for loving and committed gay and lesbian couples. Phil's decision to push vile and extreme stereotypes is a stain on A&E and his sponsors who now need to reexamine their ties to someone with such public disdain for LGBT people and families."

Robertson also told GQ his family has lost its privacy since they were thrust into the limelight as the stars of the hit show, but it was well worth it because the series has given him a platform to spread his religious beliefs.

“For the sake of the Gospel, it was worth it… All you have to do is look at any society where there is no Jesus. I’ll give you four: Nazis, no Jesus. Look at their record. Uh, Shintos? They started this thing in Pearl Harbor. Any Jesus among them? None. Communists? None. Islamists? Zero. That’s 80 years of ideologies that have popped up where no Jesus was allowed among those four groups. Just look at the records as far as murder goes among those four groups.”

Still, he doesn’t expect his fame to last forever.

“Let’s face it, three, four, five years, we’re out of here. You know what I’m saying? It’s a TV show. This thing ain’t gonna last forever. No way.”

Though the network did not officially fire the Robertson patriarch, many fans are taking news of his suspension to mean his job as a reality star is done for good.

Funny, I just turned on CNN and this was the story they were talking about.

As far as I'm concerned, the guy is a bigoted, prejudice jerk, BUT, he is entitled to his opinion, his beliefs, and to voice his beliefs. If people "shocked" by Phil's views, then they know nothing about those who are "backwoods rednecks". That is who they are, and it's their right to be who they are.

It's just like Dog the Bounty Hunter....he said some incredibly insensitive and stupid things in a private phone conversation that shouldn't have been recorded.

People say things and then there are those out t who take offense. No, Phil shouldn't have been fired, people don't want to watch the show after this, that is that is their right to choose. The fans who would still want watch, are now going to be denied.

It's an ugly truth that hate, intolerance, bigotry, and whatever is out there, but as far as I knew, it wasn't against the law to b human with human flaws.

When a person becomes a liability to a company, that company has every right to fire them, The entertainment industry is no exception, If someone worked in an office and spouted things like he said they would no longer be working for that company, Just like companies dropping Paula Deen, They were no longer an asset and was a potential liability to their company so they were dropped, It was a business decision, Personally I don't watch the show because I have no interest in the redneck culture, I saw enough of it growing up in rural NC and found it disgusting. Yes he had a right to his opinion but the company also has a right not to be associated with someone who spouts those kinds of opinions, Freedom of speech comes with the consequences of using that right,

He was discriminated against on his religious beliefs once he got fired or suspended from his workplace. Hell, he wasn't even in his "workplace" when he stated his religious beliefs when his employers decided to take action against him with the statements he made elsewhere. A&E totally went out of their way to want to fire him for it. No doubt that they discriminated against him.

Here's the law

It's funny how discrimination in the workplace only seems to apply to a lot of people on the left only as age, disability, harassment, national origin, pregnancy, race, color, sex, etc... But not religion. They always want to look the other way it seems when it comes to religion.

OK, A&E made a business decision. A PC one, but a decision nonetheless becauseGLAAD protested Mr. Robertson's comments.
A&E pulls the plug on Phil.....indefinitely.
The family backs up POP and in effect is telling A&E to go pound sand.
The sponsors and the fans are coming out in favor of supporting the family and not A&E's decision.
The ratings, in all likelihood will go up for the show, but not the Network.
I think that's a fairly accurate surmisal of the sequence of events at this point.

A&E's content is fairly lame:
The Bates Motel
Storage Wars
Rodeo Girls
Shipping Wars
Sell This House
AND of course the most popular reality series on TV, DUCK DYNASTY.

Do you think any of those shows appeal to GLAAD?
Maybe something along the order of these topics might garner some viewers from the PC GLAAD pounders.

How I Left My Lover
My Dates Motel
Sell This Blouse
Snipping Wars
Buck Me You Young Bronco
Store This

Obviously I care nothing for being politically correct or the narrow minded liberals who peddle their hypocrisy and carry it as a crutch.

If you are on a TV show you cannot help but know that everything you say and do is being scrutinized. If you are controversial and threaten the goose (or duck) that lays the golden egg then your goose (or duck) is subject to being cooked. Ask Paula Deen.

It isn't about freedom of speech, a double standard, morality, religion, etc. It is all about what should be obvious, money. Secondarily, it is about stupidity in not figuring that out or being foolish enough to think otherwise. Consequently, if he is shit outta duck, it is his own fault

On another note I just completed a 1,000 mile trip and I am sick to death of hearing about this story. It was everywhere even on sports talk radio and classic rock stations. Regardless of what people feel and why, what I don't get is why should anybody give a damn about what one redneck has to say?

This coming from someone who voted for Obama not once but twice.

It is all about what should be obvious, money
So they (A&E) thought it would be. Looks like they're losing this one as far as support goes, along with a tv show that brings in high ratings and revenue all because of intolerant hypocritical views from the loud mouth minority liberals with no sense of right whatsoever.

Regardless of what people feel and why, what I don't get is why should anybody give a damn about what one redneck has to say?
Well, for one, he's getting screwed by the network he works for, and by other stupid ass liberals.

There's also this little thing called workplace discrimination to where his rights were violated. I did post about this part in an earlier comment about it already. Why you fail to understand the seriousness of this is ridiculous.
