It was hot. The winds breezed in from the south and brought humidity as the temps climbed to a couple of the hottest days of the season. Black clouds appeared on the horizon and by afternoon, the sky was black with roiling clouds as they obscured the brilliant sun. Then it happened....

A few minutes of rain and it was over!

The winds began to shift from the north and the temps dropped.

And then I saw it coming!

I could hear it in the rustling of the dry leaves in the trees. I felt an eerie chill across the back of my neck as I wrapped my arms around myself to keep what little warmth I could. Sunset...darkness. The wind picked up and sent crusty leaves skittering down the street. Something was lurking in the shadows!

I stood in my garage and watched...listened. I could hear it, it was all around me. I sensed a foreboding growing within me as an enormous presence began to engulf my very soul. Then I knew, I just knew. The age old senses that abide within each of us came to the surface. It was night time yet as the darkness surrounded me, I listened and I looked out into the dark chill of the night as the chilly wind sent me scurrying into my house. Then in my very soul, I saw it coming....

FALL!!!

Sorry...I just felt like being over-dramatic...

I'm in such a fall mood today...it's a perfect day for it. The sky is such an azure blue and the sun is warm in the cool air. My marigolds are brilliant and there's a tad of color creeping into the leaves, some trees are beginning to change already. Methinks fall will arrive very early this year. The crops were out early in the spring and now some are within a week or two of harvesting. To drive past corn and bean fields, it seems it's already October.

Yesterday, I took a very large red vase and filled it with decorative thin branches, glued fall leaves randomly through them, then intertwined a strand of orange Halloween lights. Then I added fall foliage and flowers. Then I took a picture of it and posted it on the virtual garage sale sight and had it sold for $20 within 30 minutes! Have I a new occupation here??? Maybe.... Let me tell ya, it's easy money for sure!

I'm feeling pretty good. I have a little pain in my hip still but overall, I'm mostly pain free after years of misery. I tore out my Morning Glories from the trellis last night, more than I should've done so soon after the shot but hopefully no harm will come from it.

I feel a new day coming...new visions, new projects, new directions to travel towards. Things I will enjoy to keep me occupied through the long cold winter months. Most people experience feeling a new beginning in springtime. Not me. I'm a fall person thru 'n thru. That's when I'm the most motivated, the most exhilarated. It's when I write my best. It's when I feel the best. Warm days, chilly nights, full moon, rustling leaves, woodsmoke drifting in the air...awwww that's living!

So now I gotta go live...more pots to fill with flowers 'n ribbons then post to sell.

Ya'll have a wonderful weekend...

Be safe, be happy 'n keep smilin'....

Hugs!

It is a gorgeous fall day here, mid seventies, gentle rain off and on for the next several days

Hot here and my oldest son spent the morning tearing out the downstairs wall that has water damage to it, We have decided to just paint the cement block that was behind it and just let it go, It actually looks better than the crappy sixties fake wood paneling that was over it, Hoping for a colder than usual winter this year but not holding my breath, We only have two seasons here hot and not quite as hot these days,

I'm not sure Bruce if it made it into the 70's here...probably close but the breeze was still chilly. This evening my warm house feels mighty good! By the way...lets hear about your transition to your new home! How ya like it?

Ya know RJ...I like cement block walls...'cept when it comes to hangin' stuff...lol. You almost remind me of, well, me...you're always into some kinda project or another. And I do wish I could send you some fall and winter weather this year. I've known 4 seasons all my life and can't imagine living without them...even though each one of them has their 'flaws', I still love 'em!

Loved that beginning. That was good.

Oh yeah, feeling like fall here today definitely. And I agree, I think it's going to be here early this year. Just hope the winter isn't a brutally cold one. I don't mind cold, but below zero really sucks. If it gets that cold, I'll try to find a way to send that cold air down towards RJ.

I just have to say, seeing as how I've lived in Michigan my whole life, I totally agree with that statement. I just couldn't imagine not having all 4 of the seasons...to me, it's just not Christmas with green grass and beaches...I have to have snow for Christmas, and it has to be cold. Imagine that, me demanding it has to be cold.

I like the changing of the seasons...brings a sense of adventure of what will it be like this year. Last winter up here was pretty active...I remember driving in quite a few snow storms last year. Then again, we had the blizzard here in '11, snow damn near buried my van, and it took me 3 or 4 hours to dig out my driveway. And I had to clear off a path on the deck for the dogs. Although later in the day, they had manage to create their own paths/trials throughout the backyard. And Princess, my goof ball, loves rolling in the snow..and she was having a blast that day!

.you're always into some kinda project or another

That is because I inherited my mom's house leaks things falling down and all, I was told what it would cost to have it fixed by a professional So I have a to do list a mile long and a plan to hijack my kids to help with them.

Softie, I've noticed a difference in you the last few weeks. I think you've finally found yourself, again!
you think this might be the difference?
