Long story short, I've got a brother that needs our help! He was diagnosed with Leukemia just over a year ago. He's put up literally the fight for his life for the past 12 months. While he has finished his chemo and radiation the treatments have left him with no hearing and his balance is gone. Not to mention the daily massive migraines that totally disable him for hours. Docs think his best chance of total remission and recovery from the damage done by the other treatments is stem cell transplant. He was all set up to go to Nashville VA (yeah, did I forget to mention he's a veteran?) they had a perfect match. But unfortunately she failed her med exam this past week. They have to start all over on the search! Now let me tell you, I love this man and think the world of him, I would be on my way to the testing site right now, but they won't take mine as I've had cancer, heart attack and currently have fibromyalgia and ankylosing spondylitis, which are both considered auto immune diseases. So I'm asking, no begging, for help here. Please, Please, Please call the number 1-800-627-7692, find out how you can help. Share it with your friends, brothers and sisters. There's gotta be a match out there that can help my brother of the road!!!

I'm sorry to hear this Stormy. I can't donate due to too much iron. I don't know. What criteria do they look for in a match, like maybe blood typw for starters? My affirmations are with him

Tells all the criteria, the medical history that they won't or can't take. Preferred donor age is 18-44. But I was really surprised at the conditions that preclude you from donating. Sad really!

Let me tell you all a little bit more about my friend. He's 48, a city alderman, president of a motorcycle club and just two months before he was diagnosed he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in History. He was supposed to finish his Masters this year and wanted to teach history. A great friend and father to his son and step kids, who by the way stayed with him when their mother left him earlier this year due to his illness. (yeah, hows that for a kick when you're down)

Now before anyone gets any thoughts that this might be my "man", no, he's not. He is related to my "man" tho. And he and I have become great friends in the past two years my "man" and I have been together. It just breaks my heart to see him in the shape he's in, knowing that somewhere out there, a match in all probability exists.

While I'm happy to see a familiar "face" pop in, I'm sad for your friend! My thoughts to your friend and I hope he finds a donor soon!!! Stay positive.

I am not allowed to even donate blood because of a blood disorder I was born with, Damn this bunch of people here are in bad shape, Guess we are all getting to that age, Have you tried to set up a page on FB to look for a match? With the traffic it would get there I am sure the word would get out to way more people, A group over there can be promoted and shared,

I sure will my lil skwirly girly! As of this evening waiting to hear the outcome of his ambulance ride to ER today. Was having chest pains and was afraid he was having a heart attack! Makes my heart hurt to think of losing him.

Some of you know that I've kept in touch with, others not so much. While my own life has been going pretty good, happy with my man, as happy as any underpaid employee can be with my job, bought my own motorcycle this spring and have been riding every day it's not absolutely pouring rain. Things were going great. Then my b/f's daughter was diagnosed with breast cancer. 6 months later her 16 year old daughter was diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. His cousin (the friend in the blog) was diagnosed with Leukemia and then my dad was diagnosed with colon and liver cancer. Due to dad's advanced age (84) and his heart condition and the blood clots he formed in his lungs, they will not do surgery. So it's chemo drip every three weeks and chemo pills in between. He's lost so much weight and I'm worried sick about him. He's putting up a hell of a fight, but I'm afraid he's slowly losing it.
So folks that's the run down of the past year. It seems everyone I love and care about is fighting some form of cancer. I know most of the old regulars on here are older (preferred age is 18-44) and fighting our own health battles, but please spread the word! Someone out there somewhere has got to be a match! I truly believe it can heal more than just the Leukemia. I know there have been recent studies concerning diabetes and stem cell transplants as well. Only takes a few minutes and could save a life!

Now as for the cowardly ass vanillacreamer, I don't know who you are, I don't even give a shit that you used a well meaning blog to attempt to stir shit and attack someone, if you read the fucking blog at all and you feel her response was so shameful, then pick up the phone and make the call. Spread the word, donors are needed.
