Surviving the storm

Nearly got blown away this afternoon. No tornados but straightline winds can be fierce! Blew a tree down a block behind me onto the power lines so I was without power for a few hours. Lots of limbs 'n branches all over the place. The rain blew sideways and came down in torrents.

I thought it killed Zelda. She bulked at coming back on but I treated her gently and she came 'round. I had started a story and about had the first chapter done when all hell broke loose. My weather radio began to scream so I went to see what was happening and forgot to shut Zelda down...I figured I lost my story when the power went out. But bless saved it for me!!!

Then this evening we had to go Peacock shopping...really! My oldest sister's boyfriend has Peacocks and he wants another female so my sis wanted to get one for him for his birthday later this month. There was a couple of places that had them that her daughter found on the internet but not close by. But before we could get one, they were sold out.

Then Susie came to the rescue. She's delivered pizza in this area for 14 yrs. and knows everyone within a 10 mile radius. She happened to remember delivering pizza to a farm about 6 miles outta town that had a menagerie of feathered critters which included peacocks so Tuesday night we went to check it out. Man that was a very interesting...and educational hour on da farm! What gave me warm fuzzies was, he had what is called 'button guineas'...they were 2 days old and were struttin' around in their little box and they were only the size of bumblebees...sooooooo cute!

His place was on the trashy side but's a farm, back off the road and you could tell he was so proud of his critters. He took us all over the place and we got a short lesson in raising fowl. Not to mention he has pigs, calves and a pot-bellied pig! He is really a nice guy and we found out he graduated with Susie's brother! Wow, small world ain't

So tonight we took my sis over and yes, he'd sell her a female so she paid him and we'll go back to get it when it's closer to her boyfriend's birthday...boy is he gonna be surprised!

My other sis leaves in the morning to go back to Florida. She's renting a place for a month to start with and maybe longer. We've been over to her place twice hauling all her flowers home with us so now I've got more flowers than I intended to have. Anyway, she's toying with the idea of selling her house and relocating to Florida...she loves it there. I think I'll love having her there...for my own private reasons. Sometimes being sisters ain't what it's cracked up to be.

So...I'll work on that story and when it's finished, I'll start posting it. Be patient, as it is summer and we've got another fishing jaunt planned for Friday and then who knows for the weekend. The weather will be cooler and not much humidity so I'll wanna be outside lots of danged flowers to take care of again...geez!

Ya'll have a good weekend, be safe, be happy 'n keep smilin'...
