Events in Egypt this week make it a perfect time to remind regular bloggers of something I’ve told you more than once – no government can stand unless it is supported by the values of those it rules.

This means one cannot successfully change the character of a government without, first, changing the values of the population.

And that means those who wish to alter the capitalist complexion of America must first alter the values of Americans.

Our changing values are unwittingly creating a pathway to a change in the composition of our government. It is so far along at this moment that the values of Americans have made Obama’s transition from capitalism to communism almost effortless.

In summary, you will know when the time for a change in government has come by examining the signature value that drives human affairs in each of these two paradigms.

Capitalism = freedom
Communism = equality

Which of these two signature values is most important to Americans in the year 2013?

I think your giving Obama too much credit, I believe he is clueless. If he didn't have his advisors he might be able to think for himself and be the President that he started out wanting to be.

Our "President" is nothing more than a figurehead. Much like the Queen in England. He's just there for photo ops and ocassional soundbites.

If one does one's homework, they will discover that the policy is not the President's decision, for the most part. Policy is actually set in the house and congress. Policy is dictated by and paid for by, those who have the most financial backing.

Whoa, skwirly...that's very dangerous thinking. Are you suggesting the healthcare plan which is about to turn the American economy into a pinwheel was a congressional initiative? Are you saying that the draw-down in troops currently impacting the plans of foreign interests across the world was dreamed up by congress? Are you thinking the addition of trillions of dollars in national debt would have been made no matter who the President was?

An American President is as involved as he decides to be. This one seems to get involved in all the wrong ways and remain completely detached from too many things that should have his attention. Too much Trayvon when it's none of his business. Too much golf when we need his involvement. Too many czars circumventing congress.

I think FDR would tell you a President can pretty much do whatever the hell he feels like doing, if he goes about it in the right way.

You can't just take the word of text books and talk show hosts on this subject. They're talking about how things are DESIGNED to function. Then, however, there is the real world. To get the skinny on that you have to pay close attention over several decades.
