An interesting chart which can be found by clicking here. It shows just how low American workers would have to go to keep jobs from going to third world countries.

If the way to keep jobs from leaving the United State is to race to the lowest hourly wage, be prepared to see American workers making under $1.00 per hour. Chinese minimum wage is 80 cents an hour. In Sri Lanka, where a lot of our textile industry went, it's 29 cents an hour.

Perhaps the issue has less to do with the power of unions than the insistence of the developed world upon a certain level of human dignity when it comes to labor practices.

I know, gonna catch hell for saying this, but overpaid, and over entitled. Both Have run the cost of anything made in the states way up, while the average consumer doesn't care where it's made as long a it's cheap.

Apparently I got under Cocktail's skin.

You work for us, and I use the word 'work' lightly. Don't add insult to injury and ask us to listen to your stupidity on subjects you know nothing about. You're one of the problems, not even close to the solutions. You're overpaid, under worked and a burden on our country.......and you're on your way out, also at our expense. So keep your guaranteed grunt job and stop writing meaningless posts while you should be working.......for us, leech.

I work in the private sector, Cocktail, and have for decades. I certainly don't work for you. And a word to the wise. When you are reduced to spewing a stream of insults, all you've shown is that you blow your cool at the drop of a hat.

And as for this....

Having spent 4 years in college and graduating with a degree in Economics and Business from one of the top colleges in a 90% accredited institution, I questioned the point he was trying to make.

My point was clear. And no, you didn't ask what point I was making. You made an open-ended reference to Milton Friedman and bragged about having a bachelor's degree, as if that puts you in some elite category. And even then, I'd have left the comment if it wasn't from someone whose been banned from this site repeatedly.

As for your blog, there's no point made there either. But no matter. It will disappear as soon as you do.

Well, that is a point to ponder You can't send that job overseas but you can send overseas to the job I lived the Metroplex for over thirty years and I don't recall the last time I saw a cabbie in DFW that was born in the US. I know it wasn't in this century

On another point, this post was very interesting until I started reading the comments

Our economic 'growth' seems destined to destroy us. Repeatedly raising minimum wage does NOT, and I repeat, NOT make financial sense. You don't actually earn any more, you just pay more for what you need. Yup indeed.
