Odds 'n Ends for a Sunday

Here it is, Sunday, and here I sit playing on the computer. It is getting warmer out there, the sun is shining, hardly a cloud in the sky. The breeze that is blowing is creating a myriad of ripples on the pond across the road, and it may even be dry enough out in the pasture to clean up some more of the limbs that are down out there. There are some fish of who knows what kind in it, and other edibles for water fowl. A couple of days ago, I was siting here and saw a stork on the far side, occasionally striking at something. First time I’ve notice one over there. And today there has been a pair of ducks of one flavor or another out there. Maybe sitting here is a waste of time, but I get to see things I would miss otherwise.

I think I finally figured out what is wrong with my Stihl chain saw. I checked the fuel line and filter, they seem to be intact, and not too soft that they would collapse. Then checked for spark, and found none, nada, zip. So out comes the tools, and I tore into it, just to find out what might be wrong. Now it has been over a year since I had tried to do anything with that saw, and just what it was or was not doing the last time I used it has faded from memory. Any way, at least one major problem is solved, the spark issue, or lack of it. The spark plug wire coming off the magneto is worn thru to the core. Hence, no spark. There may be other issues, but that seems to be the main culprit at the moment. And thanks Hooks for the info you sent me. I won't know if I will need a new carb for it or not till I get the new magneto and get it installed and working. I would have just replaced the wire, but it is molded into the magneto, so if that goes bad you have to replace the whole thing.

Got on line and found a lot of info on changing and replacing various parts, and prices for just about anything else I may need in the future, and won't have to pay almost as much to get it fixed as a new saw would cost. Maybe having that shop full of tools isn't such a bad idea after all, when I can find what I need that is.

Now I need to do something about the mess on my kitchen table. Remember the battery pack I had decided to rebuild? Well, that still needs to be done, and the stuff is on the table, among other places. I was going to do the work in there because it was warmer than out in the shop, and more light. Haven't done a thing with it hardly the last two weeks, so better get that taken care of and done real soon. If I were married I'd have a “honey do” list about 3 foot long. As it is, mine is a “Mike do” list. No one else here to do any of it.

I have also come to a conclusion about the blogs. I've already pretty much expressed my opinions on many subjects, so why keep reiterating them? I'll leave the endless “I’m right and your wrong” posts to those that feel the real need post them. I may comment on one but I’m gonna stay out of the zone. There are better things for me to waste time on, like finding out that wasn't a pair of ducks this morning, but a trick of reflection and waves. Sure had me fooled for a while though.

Now, I need to get the ambition and energy to get something that needs to be done accomplished for the day. The kitchen floor needs to be mopped, the vacuum run over a couple of spots at least, the carpet is in need of cleaning again this year, limbs and branches still need to be picked up, parts of the yard still need to be mowed, my weed eaters need to be checked to see if they will run or need some work, and the shop needs to sorted, put away, cleaned up, and organized. All that should take me about the next 6 months if I keep on it, other wise, it will be the rest of my life’s work.

Ya'll take care and play nice, ya hear?
