I swear, Old Man Winter is a stubborn pain in the ass. We FINALLY got some good weather last week, and yesterday started a 3 day run of mid 30 degree weather and rain/freezing rain. That really sucks when ya want the nicer weather so you can open up the windows and air out the house.

Was on fb yesterday, a good friend of mine who is very involved with fund raisers for kids with cancer had a run of posts about an 11 yr old girl who was fighting for her life, and unfortunately this little girl passed away. She didn't have cancer, she died from injuries from an auto accident. 10 minutes after her mother picked her up from school. Her mother was parked next to my friend who was also there to pick up her own kids. They had chatted while waiting for the kids to get out of class about the upcoming softball season that their daughters were signed up for. My friend said she got home, and shortly after, the phone call came from the husband of the woman she had been talking to at the school telling her about the accident. Turns out, the accident happened because the other driver was busy on their cell phone...texting. Which Michigan just last year signed a law against texting while driving. So I have to wonder....just what in the hell is so much more important than safety of one self and others that it can't wait till the car is stopped? This accident happened because the other driver, while busy with texting, didn't see the stop sign and slammed into the truck this 11 yr old girl was in. People, get serious, there is no phone call or text message that damn important that it necessitates putting lives in danger. Wait till you're home then check.

Gonna get rid of this old couch that my dogs have finally "killed". Found a decent one for a few bucks, going to be picking that up later today. My sister gave me a good idea on how to keep the dogs off the couch when I'm not home, put a couple of big boxes on it. So, I'll give that a try. I know I started off bitching about the rain and all, but as I look in the backyard, the same backyard I haven't been out cleaning all winter, I'm kinda glad it's raining...the rain is washing away some of the mess that needs cleaning. So I guess it's not so bad after all......except for the cold temps. Those still suck.

Presidents. We all have bitched about them. Thing is, they are more of a figure head than anything else. It's Congress that has more "say" on what goes on in this country. Ok...enough of that....this isn't the vanilla site. Those of us who have wandered over there know how insane it can be with them type of blogs.

Still haven't decided on a color scheme for the house yet. Gotta be careful because once those walls are painted, I have to look at them for a few years. And I gotta figure out what color to go with for the trim here too. The brown is just blah....too overdone. I'll get something figured out. Eventually. I got one of those Shark Steam Mops, and I love it!!! It is amazing how clean my kitchen floor is, and that is with 5 dogs in the house. Much, much better than the Swiffer ever was. And there is no sticky feeling on the floor. Good thing the pads on this thing are washable, besides, I bought extra just in case.

So anyway, I'm off to get my "new" couch, and do some rearranging of furniture today. Play nice....ok...try to.

The weather bottomed out here, too. Susie said we got almost 4 inches of rain since yesterday morning. Man it hammered us all day and night and we had some pea-sized hail too! Now it's overcast, cold 'n damp...that's probably why I'm here instead of in my garage...sigh

I'd like to be working in my garage but it's also kinda nice just sittin' here with nuttin' else to do but dabble on Zelda.

Speaking of couches 'n pets. I got this beautiful couch a year ago last summer at an auction. Now my cats aren't declawed so I had to come up with something to protect my new couch. I used clear packing tape and taped every corner, edge and anywhere they might use as a scratching post. It worked! They don't like slick things and since the tape is clear, it is hardly noticeable. I also have the edges of my clothes hamper taped and the legs of my organ bench. I hate losing my cats someday but I'll never have anymore...anymore pets of any kind!

Enjoy your day...hugs! ('n a kudo...good to see the kind of blogs I like!)

This dreary blah weather is enough to drive me crazy...but, they say "April showers bring May flowers". So, there better be a whole lot of flowers in May.

I like that trick of yours with the cats and your furniture. I never thought of that. I've been lucky with Apache as he's never been one to claw up furniture, and he's 17 yrs old I'm not worried about him doing that now, but my other cat, she's only 3yrs old, and so far, I haven't seen her clawing on the furniture, but, she's young and there is always a first time. So, I think I'm going to head out and get me some packing tape.

We got about three inches of much needed rain over the past two days. But it is cold and blustery now. Most of the snow and ice passed to the north, the tornados and hail to the south. It should begin to warm up.

As for spring really kicking in, I watch the oaks and other hardwood trees, I see nothing from them. Some of the earlier bushes and trees like dogwoods came out a couple of days ago.

In my garden my lettuce and radishes came up but no signs of the chard or spinach. The beets went in a week later. That is cool as I had cracked a rib last week and was in no condition to do any manual labor. Damn, it was painful. I am finally recouping now

You can have my 86 degree weather and I will gladly take yours off your hands, I hate hot weather with a passion and it looks like a very long and very hot summer here,
