What we have done in the past to serve as drop cloth for painting, worked out great and was free, was to get the tarps from home improvement stores or lumber yards that are used to protect palletized products. They are plastic with a woven mesh sandwiched inside to prevent tearing. They come in various sizes up to 30' X 30' We got one last year that was 5' X 25' and used it to fashion a slip and slide for the grandson

We use them extensively in the garden. They also work great for covering garden areas to protect the plants from a late freeze. We also put them down in barren garden areas and cover them over with mulch that we get free from the electric company. This thwarts weeds and grasses while providing a form compost for future use in the garden after the mulch decomposes

That is an interesting little piece of info. Since I would like to do some painting inside the house, I'm going to take a look into that.
