Spring training has begun with renewed hope for the fans of the 30 teams in major league baseball. There will be changes, most notably the Houston Astros becoming the second team in MLB history to change leagues (the other being the Milwaukee Brewers in 1998). They will now compete in the American League West resulting in all six divisions having five teams.

Who do you see matching up in the Fall Classic and who wins it all?

The prognosticators at the Bleacher Report have established their odds on the World Series prospects for all 30 teams. The team that they say is the odds on favorite will probably come as some surprise:

1. Toronto Blue Jays: 8-1
2. Washington Nationals: 9-1
3. San Francisco Giants: 10-1
4. Los Angeles Angels: 11-1
5. Detroit Tigers: 11-1
6. Atlanta Braves: 12-1
7. Los Angeles Dodgers: 13-1
8. Cincinnati Reds: 14-1
9. Philadelphia Phillies: 15-1
10. New York Yankees: 18-1
11. Texas Rangers: 20-1
12. Oakland Athletics: 22-1
13. St. Louis Cardinals: 25-1
14. Tampa Bay Rays: 25-1
15. Baltimore Orioles: 30-1
16. Boston Red Sox: 35-1
17. Chicago White Sox: 35-1
18. Kansas City Royals: 40-1
19. Arizona Diamondbacks: 45-1
20. Pittsburgh Pirates: 50-1
21. Milwaukee Brewers: 55-1
22. Cleveland Indians: 60-1
23. Seattle Mariners: 65-1
24. San Diego Padres: 80-1
25. New York Mets: 85-1
26. Minnesota Twins: 90-1
27. Chicago Cubs: 100-1
28. Colorado Rockies: 125-1
29. Miami Marlins: 150-1
30. Houston Astros: 200-1

I am picking the Detroit Tigers to prevail over the Cincinnati Reds.

Just picked up tickets for the Orioles / Twins series in Baltimore the first weekend in April. The Twins look to have a no-name starting rotation and an even less impressive bullpen, but hope springs eternal.

I really ought to put $50 down on them to win the world series. At 90 - 1, the payoff, though unlikely, would be sweet!

Way too early to predict right now.

I am hoping to see my Reds go farther than last fall where they fucked up.

They fucked up by naming Aroldis Chapman as a starting pitcher. He'll throw his arm out by the end of May!

I'm kind of curious about the new center fielder...

Nolan Ryan didn't throw his arm out, and he was a flame thrower. To prevent this, Chapman needs to learn more pitches. If Chapman doesn't workout as a starter, just move him back to the bullpen. We should know if this works out by May or June. No harm done. That's of course barring injury which I don't think will happen.

Nah, he's a thrower, and not a pitcher. That's fine for one or two innings, but the third time through the lineup he'll be shelled every time. That's IF he doesn't throw his elbow or shoulder into chopped liver! He'll need time, like Homer Bailey did, and if he continues to throw like he does now, he'll have a very short career...
