Wow hatred sucks! Ok, enough on that.

I'm enjoying a relaxing day off. No work today, just lounging a little bit before getting the house cleaned up. I finally took the Christmas tree down this morning. Yeah I know, a little late on that, but then again, i was a little late in putting it up too..so it balanced out.

Don't remember if I blogged about it here or not...and quite honestly, too lazy to go through my blogs to see if I did or not. But anyway, back in November, my mom fell and broke her hip and had to have hip replacement surgery. She had that done, and was recovering quite well, both her visiting nurse and therapist were saying by Christmas time she should be able to possibly start trying to use a cane. Well, Christmas, while I was at my parents for our family's get together, I noticed Mom seemed "tired", in fact, a couple of times while she was at her computer playing her games on Pogo, it looked to me like she fell asleep. I commented on this to my sister, who said that she thought it was low sodium causing it. And I asked her if she called Mom's nurse. And she said Mom wouldn't let anyone call the nurse, didn't want to interrupt her holiday. I thought ok, sounds like Mom to put others first. Then later, my sister said something that if sodium levels get too low, that cells then fill with water (something like that...hey...I'm no medical expert here) anyway, end result is a person can lapse into a coma. She said some signs were passing out and weakness. Well damn, Mom is falling asleep at her computer, and having a helluva time getting up out of chair...isn't that enough to call? Then Mom heard me, and said "no, she just isn't sleeping good". So I told my sister, if that is still the case in the morning, call that nurse regardless. Following morning, the nurse called to see how things were going, my sister was the one who answered the phone, told her what was going on, and the nurse said to get Mom to the ER. So, Mom was in the hospital for a couple of weeks to get both her sodium levels and her blood pressure back under control, then my parents insurance company decided the rehab place Mom's doctor wanted her to go to was "too expensive" (wtf??? It was the same place she went to for a week after her surgery) and that they wanted her to essentially spend 2 weeks in a nursing home for the therapy there. Dad raised hell with them, got her into the other place.

So, Mom finally got home this past Thursday, and has been doing very well. She still has her nurse coming out, and the therapist. This little trip back to the hospital set her back a little bit as she is still using a walker, but, from what I hear, she should be using a cane by spring, and by next Thanksgiving, walking on her own power again. I told my sister and I told Dad...I don't care if Mom says not to...if there is any concern about her health, call that nurse or get her into the doctor asap. Mom needs to stop being so stubborn about seeking help.

Other than that, it's been blissfully quiet on the home front here. Usually is around here in the winter. People don't spend much time outside around here. In fact, I've noticed, we don't tend to spend much time out in the winter anymore. I can remember as a kid getting snow storms that left a couple of feet of snow and my sisters and friends and I couldn't wait to get outside and play in it. I look around today, hardly a kid out playing. Then again, there isn't all that much snow on the ground around here. It barely covers the grass. What we did have, got washed away a week or so back when we got temps in the 50's and some rain. Been a strange winter here. I'm hoping for an early spring, and a not too hot summer. A friend of mine told me about these hanging screen doors with magnetic strips on the top and bottom that can be put in place of sliding screens for patio doors. I want to look into getting one this year so I can have my patio door open in the summer and keep bugs out of the house. The sliding screen I have now is broke thanks to Buddy trying to run through it. Which is why I want to try the one with the magnetic strips. My friend says the dogs can run in and out all day while it's open, and it supposedly snaps back into place. That would be great...a way for them to run in and out all day.

Well, maybe it's time to look into getting the housework done.......maybe.
