Somebody is getting voted off of the island, well the board. Monopoly is going through a renovation of sorts. One current game piece will be leaving to be replaced by a new one. Who is riding off into the sunset and who the successor will be is being decided by the people. There will be an election on the Monopoly Facebook page to determine the outcome. The page also has pictures of the new candidates including a cat, diamond ring, helicopter, robot, and guitar. So who is fading out: the shoe, top hat, wheelbarrow, clothes iron, battleship, race car, thimble or Scottie dog (I was always the top hat)? Polls close February 5.

I have two Monopoly games. One is from the early sixties that my brother and I played with. The other is worth something I imagine as it is from the mid-thirties that my dad and his brother played with. It has some different playing pieces including a lantern, cannon and rocking horse. It also has some unusual Chance and Community Chest cards like one that gives you money because we are off of the gold standard.

On to my vote. I vote to boot the iron and replace it with the cat.

What are your votes?

I agree, boot the iron. Add the guitar. I was always the battleship, unless I lost the dice toss (to determine who chose their token first), otherwise the cannon or race car.

Boot out the thimble, bring in the cat.
