And hey! This year, I got an early start on my Christmas shopping. Sure, it's only one gift right now, but, I didn't wait until the 23rd like I usually do. The weather around here, can't figure if it's warm or cold. We get a few days of cold weather, than we're back up into the 40's. Can't get any Christmas snow with temps like that. And dang it...that's the only time I demand snow...I like a white Christmas. Which reminds me of a picture I saw of our own Mackinaw Bridge the other day. It's a pretty winter shot of it.

brrr!!! That looks cold!!!! But at least they look more ready for Christmas up there than it does around here. Around my area, a tradition is the Water Works Treatment plant decorates, and people love driving by it to check it out.

It is quite pretty when you can see it in real life verses a picture in a blog.

One of the things I've always liked about this time of the year is the lights. I love how people decorate with the lights and the lawn decorations. Some are beautiful, some are a little over the top. And I've noticed in my area, more houses are decorated compared to the last few years.

Kickstart my Christmas

Here it is simple and sweet. I conveyed this to my daughter who was concerned about money. I told her, "We have enough money for gifts for Ashton (my six year old grandson). Our gift is freedom."

She is divorcing a control freak, anal retentive husband. I had moved in with them last year so I could retire and provide after school child care. But even though I love my daughter and grandson, I was preparing to move out as I could no longer tolerate living under the rules of an asshole. So we moved and she filed for divorce.

The gift of freedom is so cool as there is no OC control freak since the divorce has been filed. But beyond that, our new home is so serene. It is nestled in seven acres of evergreen woods near the end of a road. Across the street is a forest protected as a state conservation area. The view from my bedroom window is a post card.

We have a fireplace. On our property, the phone company put in two poles on our eastern border a few years back. This involved clear cutting trees that were cut into fireplace logs, probably four or five cords. They were stacked, never collected...until now

We are less than ten minutes from her work and to virtually every store and restaurant in Columbia that you can imagine It is a city of over 100,000 with all of the Outbacks, Fridays, etc. plus many stellar local offerings including micro breweries!

We can get to Wally World in ten minutes but rarely do because we have so many other shopping choices I am really enjoying retirement as life is good

This comment is so long, it should have been a blog

I can tell it's better just by your writing. It doesn't sound so......cryptic anymore.

I'm glad this year for Christmas is better for your family.

You know sugar... underneath either end of the Mackinaw Bridge, are where the Trolls are hatched and raised in their huge refrigerator shipping boxes! Yup... that's where they come from alright and since I've been over the bridge a few times and have never seen any Trolls walking along the bridge itself, I can only assume it's two separate Troll families on either end- just say'n!!
