And you thought I'd Well actually, I did. A very successful garage sale kept me occupied for days. My story isn't fininshed but I will start posting chapters and it should end Halloween night. (OMG...that's tomorrow night...I'd better hurry!)

Once Upon a Halloween

Chapter 1

In the village of Devonshire, there lived a girl whose beauty surpassed any young man’s dreams. Her skin was a tawny shade, softly glowing as though an artist’s brush had skillfully blended the perfect colors of brown and beige and with gentle strokes, painted her from her head to her toes.

Her face was sculptured as though a master of the art had spent a lifetime forming each feature with the upmost attention to every tiny detail…delicate cheekbones, perfectly tilted nose, full rosey lips, with a strong, yet feminine chin where a small cleft was squarely placed in the middle.

Her eyes were large and dark…almost too large yet they seem to fit this sculptured face. Long, black lashes and gently arching brows accentuated their beauty.

Lush black hair, glistening, thick and somewhat unruly with curls and waves, fell to the middle of her back, nearly to her tiny waist.

She was tall in comparison to the other village girls who, it seemed, inherited a short stature which seemed to be the trend in those days. Her legs were long and shapely. Her torso was slender, yet full and volumptious with defined hips that narrowed delicately from the small of her back downwards to announce shapely buttocks that rounded fully then curved deeply to meet her long legs.

Her name was Bella…Bella Devon. Yes, she was a direct descendent of the founding father of Devonshire.

The year doesn’t matter but the setting does. This was a small village in New England, somewhat isolated. Although surrounded by modern towns and cities, its very nature of isolation made it seem a world apart from all the new technology that grew rampant around them. Here in Devonshire, standing out amongst the townspeople could spell trouble…and it did for Bella. It didn’t help that Bella knew too much. Her ability to foresee future events; the uncanniness of seemingly knowing people’s thoughts or happenings from the past; all this singled her out, made her an outcast in spite of her beauty.

Bella was shunned, feared, as whispers fueled speculations. The only thing that saved her from outright accusations of witchcraft was her heritage. Her grandfather, still living, ran the village with an iron fist and he was feared more than any tales of witchcraft. Did he know of the whisperings? No one knew for sure but one was careful who one whispered to and on the surface, Bella was treated with respect, if nothing more.

Now summer was slipping away and soon it would be harvest time. Soon the festivities of another year of bounty would be celebrated. There would be festivals, music and dancing throughout September and late into October…and even in Devonshire, Halloween was a fun time for the village children. Many adults participated with decorating and parties and Halloween pranks were pretty common…it was all in fun.

For Bella, Halloween was special, very special. With her sensitive spirit, Bella knew Halloween was more than costumes, parties and pranks. Oh, yes, Bella knew too much…

To be continued…

Forgot did ya?

I just figured you were busy, and you were.

I like your writing, I can get a picture of the scenery and people in your stories. Ok, waiting on the next chapter.

Thanks Sugar...I'd give you a huggy/kissey face if this dang site would let me. I have several chapters done so I will post another one later on today and another tonight...maybe more as I want it to end Halloween night.

I think my busyness is coming to an end. I went to the Laser center yesterday and although I thought they killed that eye permanently with all those drops and extremely bright lights, by the end of the day it was better...a lot better. I do have a rather large floater that runs back and forth over my pupil but that won't interfer with my getting my glasses in a couple of weeks. If the floater continues to bother me, I'll have it removed next year when I have full coverage insurance.

We've been getting rain mixed with snow since about 4 a.m. It is windy but not so much as it was last night. I like this weather only because I can finally stop and play...yea!!!!
