Reds pitcher Homer Bailey pitched a no-hitter tonight against the Pittsburgh Pirates. We won 1-0.

This was the Reds first no-hitter since Tom Browning threw a perfect game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, 1-0 back on Sept. 16, 1988.

Even though I feel a little bad that my Reds guaranteed the Pirates another non winning baseball season since the early 1990's, I'm sure I'll get over it.

My Reds are now setting at 95-62 with 5 more games left to play in the regular season. Like to see us win 100 games. Hopefully Washington will lose tonight against St. Louis. Both my Reds and Washington are fighting for # 1 seed in the National League.

Well hey, stranger. Long time no see. How ya been?

Yeah, Mario Soto was one of my favorites. He had an awesome year in 1984 (18-6 record I believe), and continued until he started having arm problems in 1987. He tried making a comeback but just couldn't.

I remember my Reds playing down in Atlanta back in 1984 and there was a fight that broke out between Soto and one of Alanta's players. Soto hit him with a pitch and that player went to charge the mound and was tackled by our catcher I believe. When that player was on the ground Soto threw the baseball at the guy's head. I didn't agree with what he did, but Soto had a fiery temper.

You're not a baseball, nor a sports fan, are ya, Som?

Actually no... used to be! I'm a high tech nerd- that's my forte! Besides, not to paint with a broad brush, but the pro players are supposed to set an example of sportsmanship for the kids that idolize them and many kids do! But some of the example players belong in jail and shouldn't be allowed to participate in any game, what with the illegal antics they pull, (drugs, alcohol, steroids, etc.) where some of them feel they're above the law! Not good for kids to see or read about! I lost interest in sports years ago because of the above! Reminds me of politics!

Just my opinyunnn!

As I said in one of your earlier posts, I think the Reds will be the last team standing come November. Nobody else seems to able to break free though the Rays are making a good run with a late surge in the AL wild card chase, but that may be too little too late. The Rangers/Angels got rained out yesterday so they will have a double dip today and the second game will be televised as a bonus on MLB tonight. I will probably toggle between it and the Eagles/Giants tonight. I will watch the 49ers/Jets for my early NFL game today. I love this time of year for sports viewing

It's too late for Tampa Bay to win the second wild card.

As for how my Reds are playing lately, it seems like my Reds really don't want the # 1 seed, but are content and comfortable with playing the Giants (# 3 seed right now) in the first round of the playoffs instead of St. Louis or Atlanta (Wild card team). I don't think the L.A. Dodgers have a chance to take over St. Louis for the second wild card. They're (Dodgers) are two games back of them, with 4 games left to play out the regular season.

This week for 3 straight nights, the Reds had been playing the song "I left My Heart in San Francisco" over the sound system during games. Watching all this, and watching them make some very questionable moves with who my Reds have been playing in the lineup, and making some pretty stupid pitching moves during the games have made me question the integrity of their games. It all seem to start last Sunday (a day after we clinched our division) when my Reds we're playing the Los Angeles Dodgers on national tv on ESPN. Sure, you want to give some of your players a rest here and there before the playoffs, but having about 5 or 6 reserves players in the starting lineup? We're still playing for # 1 seed in the national leaugue.

Not sure why we pulled our starting pitcher out after 6 scoreless innings last night. The minute we threw a reliever in there, they (Pittsburgh) finally scored to make it 1-0 against us. We eventually tied the game, only to change pitchers AGAIN only to give up a walk off homerun win to them in the bottom of their 9th inning to lose the game, 2-1.

My Reds offense has not been all that great all season long. I'm thinking the Reds have an average team batting of around .255 or something like that. Our pitching has carried us this season.
