To southern Indiana to see some cousins I haven't seen for several years. They've been here but I've never been there. I didn't know there were caves in southern Indiana! Wow! I found I sorta have a love/hate relationship with caves... They're beautiful but big 'n scary! And I didn't know I can be claustrophobic... They also took me to a very small one that only the locals know about. It is under a roadside picnic area and has the most wonderful, cold spring water running out of it that pools crystal clear before trickling on into a creek...delicious water!
We went to a park where we walked the trails into the woods. I cut a lot of dried fall weeds to make into decorations. The leaves are turning there, too, but not as much as here at home. The leaves are turning early this year what with it being such a dry, hot summer and now we've had our first hard frost...yes, already! They say the leaves will fall early this year...soon the trees will be but skeletal silhouettes against a winter sky.
My relationship with my SO is mellowing out. We're still friends. We've not talked about our relationship or where it's going...or not going. Seems we've just naturally drifted into more of a friendship than anything else. Life is calmer for me now and that's good.
This is a dreaded election year. I don't talk about politics and that includes here. But I have found that since I have a home phone, I'm getting more solicitation calls concerning politics...each party taking polls... I can't tell them much other than I still have a lot of research to do on candidates. Not much to choose from in my opinion. Besides...I believe very little of what ANY of them have to say...bullshit is as bullshit does, yanno???
I've been spending some time sitting along my little creek out in the backyard...that would be with a sweatshirt and jacket now. Sometimes I even add a little 'kick' to my coffee...whatever it takes to warm the bones, right? In the late afternoon, it looks so 'golden' as the sun filters through the treetops and I look forward to when the trees are bursting with color. The singing of the water as it trickles and rushes along is so soothing to my soul.
All my flowers have taken it on the chin what with the early frost. Some are hardy, some not. My tomatoes remain green and hard, refusing to ripen...I will not plant tomatoes anymore. And just an opinion here...Pineapple tomatoes are not worth the effort to plant and nurture. The plant itself grows atrosciously huge as does the tomato. They actually spend all their time growing big and often just split open to rot and when they do begin to ripen, the top rarely ripens before the rest of the tomato turns bad. As for their taste? I don't care for them. I think they have very little taste, are too sweet and the skin is tough. There....the produce critic part of this blog is done....
Ok, I'm off to fill birdfeeders and put out more ears of corn for the squirrels. They're suppose to be rodents but in my opinion, they're just little pigs! I give them peanuts in the shell too and it's fun to watch them "hide" them in the grass.
Enjoy, stay warm (where that applies) and love like ya mean it...
