But hey....Fall comes next, and I like Fall. Just don't really care for what follows that. Yes, snow is pretty, and I do like watching it snow, I just don't like getting on the roads with all of the dummies who forget they are supposed to slow down on snowy roads! And I don't particularly care for shoveling out my driveway either. The main reason for that is that I can hear my dogs in the backyard having a blast while I'm working.

Classes have started up this week. Going to be a busy one, but then again, what college courses aren't? It's funny, I've had co workers ask me what I'm going to do with my degree after I get it. My first comment usually is that I'm going to frame it. Then I tell them I'm not paying all of this money and putting all of this time into it just to do nothing with it. I know I've been with the same employer for 17 years, but, unless they have a position for me that I can use my skills in, I will be looking around. Would I prefer to stay with my current employer? Of course. I've got seniority and a 401k. Time will tell.

Oh yeah, a few weeks back, we got a LOT of rain. Local news reported that the area got 7 inches of rain. Anyway, along with that rain, it was a tad bit windy, and, apparently was causing the branches on both of the Blue Spruces in my front yard to cause the power lines to spark, freaking out the neighbors across the street. Anyway, fire dept. knocks on the door, I'm still in my jammies, so I go to get dressed, and I hear them POUND on the damn door. Sounded like the door was going to be knocked off it's frame. Holy shit people!!! Give a person a chance to get dressed!!! I did inform them politely it was totally unnecessary to try busting my front door in. And they explained what was going on and of course advised me to stay in the house till the situation was "under control". Ok...whatever. An hour or so later, the utility company shows up and "trims" some of the branches away from the lines. Do you think they cleaned up behind them selves? NO! Let me tell ya....the needles on those Spruces are some sharp buggers! My Dad came over to help me clean up the mess, and next thing I knew, my crawling vines on my porch are almost all gone...my porch looks "naked". Made a note to myself to NEVER mention to Dad that I need to trim my vines! It's going to take a couple of years for the other vine to "recover". I only wanted to trim them back from the house itself so they didn't go under the gutters or get under the siding.

Anyone got any ideas on how to get catalpas to quit growing all over the place? I just want the 2 in the backyard. These damn trees are like freaking weeds! I love their huge leaves, great for shade, but they are some messy trees when their pods "shed".

Ok...I'm off to finish up some laundry.

Oh yeah, a few weeks back, we got a LOT of rain.

Rain... I saw some once Actually, we are projected to get over four and half inches from Issac beginning around sundown Friday. The whole state is under a fire watch due to the drought with the Dairy Association projecting one third of the ranchers in the state going under. Even those with the money to have feed brought in from nearby states can't find any. Beef prices are dropping as they thin their herds. But beef and dairy products are expected to jump ten percent by fall.

It will be in the high nineties today then drop almost twenty degrees as Issac arrives this weekend. Then it is back up to the nineties again.

it was a tad bit windy, and, apparently was causing the branches on both of the Blue Spruces in my front yard to cause the power lines to spark,

A bit too interesting for you? That is a drag as spruce trees are gorgeous evergreens that are not nearly as fast growing as other pines

My Dad came over to help me clean up the mess, and next thing I knew, my crawling vines on my porch are almost all gone...my porch looks "naked".

Communication is a good thing

There you go, pick up the pods. That is much easier than with many trees. In Texas I had a problem with Arizona ash trees becoming weeds and their seeds were not in pods.

Speaking of Fall my favorite time of yr. I miss it living in florida. You would never know summer was almost over, its 93 here.
Issac gave us over 10ins off rain, loved driving thru streets that turned into rivers. Not.
Good luck with school.
