A friend of mine had a problem with her computer...opened an e-mail (not here) and watched her computer go tilt. She figured she'd had a collision with a virus. So the next day, she went to Best Buy and bought a laptop but the one she wanted has to be ordered.

The NEXT day, after having her computer shut down for 2 days, just for shits 'n giggles, she turned it on and damned if it ain't just fine! Either her anti-virus healed it or her computer (being old anyway) just had a momentary brain fart.

More and more people are going to laptops. I understand that alot of computer desks doesn't even have keyboard trays anymore.

Personally, I have no desire for a laptop. I wanna go to my computer...I don't want it going with me! I want it stationary, complete with tower, monitor and keyboard tray. So I'm old-fashioned but a laptop is like a toy, dinky and tempermental...or at least my daughter's is. I'll just stick to my old clunker, thanks anyway.

Besides, me 'n 'lectronics are always at odds. My digital camera seems to have a mind of its own but I know it's me...I don't much like to read instructions...

My cell ain't too bad as most of the time I can't find it anyway.

TV remotes...and god knows we need at least 6 of them to run everything that goes-along-with, this, that 'n the other. About the time I think I have it figured out then either the channels change or I upgrade and its learn a new remote.

I bought a Furby a couple of months ago at Grandma's Attic thrift shop. I've spend a ridiculous amount of time rubbing his tummy and about all he'll say is, "I tired." (Well big deal, I am too!) Then he blinks them big baby blues at me. I thought if one rubbed his tummy enough and talked to him, he was suppose to begin to interact with you. NOT! Then one day my granddaughter picked him up and rubbed his belly and he blinked those huge eyes at her and said, "I like you! We friends!" WTH? I fixed his wagon...I removed his batteries and sent him to sit in a corner!

No, I don't want a laptop. I don't want one of those fancy cell phones. No more adding any components to my TV. And Furby is in an indefinite time out.

Oh yeah...the "fun" of electronics. I do have a laptop, taking classes again at college, it's easier for me to grab the laptop to take with me to classes. That way in between classes, I can find a table and turn on the laptop and continue on my homework assignments.

And I know what you mean about the half dozen different remotes for the tv, dvd/blueray player, etc.

btw...I still use my desk top pc...using it right now.

I had to have my cable company come out last week to replace my computer was the third time it took a crap on me so they replaced it with a new one.

While he was here, somehow the subject came up about Hi-definition for my TV. I thought it cost about $10 a month but he said it only cost $2 and he could change it that day. I thought, "Why not?" Well little did I know it would be so complicated. It took changing the whole box on the TV for a new one. I didn't get a new remote but I did have to locate the remote that came with my TV so I could change the picture size when it was broadcast in a smaller picture.

After all that, and I really can't tell the difference between regular TV and Hi-def...maybe just a little but hardly worth even the $2 I have to pay extra now. Oh well...not that big of a deal. I have to learn all the new stations that broadcast in Hi-def as they're way up in the 1000 channels. It's enough to give me a headache!

I had thought about getting Hi-Def through my satellite provider. After reading what you've gone through..I see that it's more problems than it's worth. Besides, I've got enough channels to entertain myself with, I don't need anymore. And it just doesn't sound like it's worth the extra couple of bucks anyway.
